$1500 = $345 tax deductible $12000 = $461 tax deductible $25000 = $575 tax deductible
Ummm... what? | |

I would presume this means that the deductible figure is what covers the donation portion of their respective prices and the rest goes to administration of the event.

Umm, right. But wouldn't you think it safe to assume that a VAST majority of that is Prince's fee? It doesn't cost all that much to rent and staff an existing venue (especially for charitable events when fees and services are often donated or supplied at a discount). And maybe there is some limit to what amount can be donated and/or is deductible in Texas. I certainly don't have the answer to that readily available (but I could find it pretty easily). But if that's NOT the case, it smacks of bad taste for me. There's 2000 tickets, asuming ALL of them go for $1500 (which we can clearly see is not the case) that's still $3,000,000.00 (the total will actually be more if all the tickets are sold). According to the numbers above somewhere between $690,000.00 and $1,150,000.00 of that will be donated. I'm sorry, but if those are the amounts going to charity, even after whatever costs were required to stage the show, then this is not a charitable event, it's a for profit event. Either Prince's or the promoters.
