Tuesday, Jan. 04, 2011 Prince to play benefit in Dallas before Super Bowl Preston Jones Add another bold-faced name to the avalanche of talent landing in North Texas because of the Super Bowl: Prince. The iconic singer-songwriter (and former Super Bowl half-time entertainer, in 2007) is the draw for a gathering dubbed theEvent, which will be held Feb. 4 on the site of the former Reunion Arena in downtown Dallas. Tickets are pricey -- they start at $1,500 and top out at (gulp) $25,000 -- but all that scratch benefits a good cause: the Goss-Michael Foundation. The foundation, which is hosting the evening, bills "theEvent" as "an all-inclusive evening of music and culture [boasting] ... music, art, food, spirits and more." In addition to Prince's "intimate" performance in the (ahem) "exclusive, custom-designed, climate-controlled performance tent," former Goss-Michael Foundation scholarship winners, guest DJs, additional special guests and a silent auction will keep folks entertained. Reservation opportunities have yet to be announced, but the event's spokespeople suggest keeping an eye on the soiree's Twitter feed for further updates. http://www.dfw.com/2011/0...allas.html

I got soo excited when I got the email from Erykah Badu about this and now I'm so upset at these prices. Does he not like his poor fans at all?

This is about the charity and fund raising, NOT the fans. There are many, many high priced ticket events like this all over the world every year so please do not blame P.

it might be a charity event but prince is still getting paid

I'm just now finding out it was a charity event and I was only kidding with my last remark. But considering it's been awhile since he's been in Texas, I was hoping for more of a concert for the south since he's been in NY this whole time.

There was some information on the website about volunteering for the event.
I tried to email my interest in volunteering, but no response so far.

Is it on yet? Oh wait... that would be next week... I think.?.?.

I hate it when artists get paid to perform at charity shows. I know that the justification is that they will raise even more money with Prince or whatever superstart on the bill but it just seems greedy and wrong.

The Dallas Morning News is now reporting that the charity show will be moved indoors to the Inter Continental Hotel:
