Current USA gigs vs o2 gigs - o2 wins hands down so far!

wow, what the hell happened?. I was so excited for the USA fans and had hoped they got what we got at the o2 i.e. every night really was different i.e. funk theme, rock theme, hits etc + the setlists were great, the shows were lonnnnnnnng! and the aftershows were stellar!. Instead the US seems to have a very short show, a truly uninspired set list and littel variance.

I hope that any other shows announced will give you the variety that he promised at that start. Seems like Europe is where his heart is?

as for the fake 'thank you and good night' routine, it was great in 2007 but now it's predictable and tacky.

Maybe based on your facts, but last night was such a blast, who cares. I'm sure you will have concerts that are better than others, but its hard not to have a good time anyway.

For Real! lol

I recently listened to the Indigo Nights CD from the O2 concerts and the first track: 3121/DSMR fast with that opening arrangement would have be killer at NY.

Usually when he walks the stage with the house lights completey on and thanks everyone then I know its over but then at the IZOD on December 17 the house lights came up and techs came on stage to clean up and he came on back again eek

OMG! I'm so In Love with Indigo Nights!!!!!! What a great live performance and amazing sound.

Although I enjoyed his performance at MSG the sound sucked over there.

I hope he'll have better sound on Feb.7.

I don't know...haven 't seen them so it is hard to judge. I know a friend of mine who visited the Izod centre shows was disapointed but i guess we in europe are a bit spoiled...

If i had time i would have visited the shows mediocre or not....biggrin

Have you been to any of these shows to talk about how lame they've been? I haven't been to Europe, let alone any of the O2 shows so I have no room to talk about how good or bad the shows were but I've been to all of the W2A shows and while the setlists were similar, the shows have been different in terms of the vibe, how the music was played to a degree and where Prince himself was with the show. These shows have been phenominal and to hear people dog them, especially from people who weren't there is nothing short of disgraceful and pathetic. But this is the prince.org I'm on. Pathetic lives here.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Dear Purplecam,

I also enjoyed W2A, but the sound quality in MSG SUCKED big time.

I assure you of that, after being in many different concerts.

Clay Aiken had better sound in Foxwoods than Prince in MSG, for god sake!

The sound was way better compared to IZOD. The 18th show was the best, the 29th was not as good but still better than the IZOD. I still loved the show.

So you know exactly where Prince's heart is regarding what country he decides to perform in and which one he likes better?lol Can you also tell us what colors he'll be wearing when he climbs out of bed in the morning oh psychic one? lol

it's called making a valued judgement. I really haven't the time nor inclination to go over each point on why the O2 kicks the W2A tours ass BUT I have read enough about the shows and seen enough clips to easily evaluate that W2A [so far] is lame in comparison. My point is that I hope that for the fans in the USA he raises his game considerably rather just doing the bare minimum to get paid. Can I advise that you go and hunt out the many O2 clips out there, reviews etc and then come back with something that's actually valid?.

I don't see how you can compare the o2 shows with the W2A shows unless you were actually there. On paper the o2 shows look similar but those that attended will know how special every night actually was.

And yes, the last aftershow was awesome and it still brings a tear to my eye thinking about little Amy walking out stage as the curtains drew back.

I was wondering about that....I have been to concerts in other cities/arenas and in smaller venues as well. I thought the sound system in MSG was terrible (even though I loved the show)...Is that just how MSG is all the time? Just curious..

I had asked that before as well but no on answered. I specifically was asking if the NJ arena had a curfew since those shows were short as well......I am curious..

I don't believe he shortened the show due to the crappy sound system though..If he was THAT unhappy with it he would not continue to book himself for tours there. There are other larger cities he go do...

about the sound: i think it depends on where you have your seat..In the rings sound is very crappy, but when you are on the floor most of the time sound is o.k.

Pity that those seats are often far too expensive...

That is why i prefer the shows of last summer in Europe ...when you arrived early you were standing front row...At some gigs you paid more for golden circle, about 200 dollars, but you were front row..The front row tix in New York have crazy prices. Some my suggestion is: Please bring back the advantages of the NPGMC....presale, soundcheck and front row seats...biggrin

it's called making a valued judgement.

Valued judgement? You got me all fucked up with that shit. I'm not gonna waste my time hunting for some minute and a half clip to see how the O2 shows were just to compare it to a show I saw for around 2 hours a couple of weeks ago because I'm not trying to compare the 2 and it wouldn't be fair for me to do that if I wasn't at the O2 shows, which I wasn't. I'd sound very foolish, the way that you do right now. Besides, it's not important to me. I'm getting what I need and that's a Prince show in my backyard!

I'm glad you enjoyed your show. Big fucking whoop, but for you to talk straight out of your ass talking about how "uninspired" the shows were here and your ass wasn't and isn't ANYWERE near NYC is just as ridiculous and retarded as can be. Nothing you told me in your little speech was valid at all. Hell, you not being here negates everything! A few minutes on youtube or whereever you saw some clips does not a whole performance make. If the American fans weren't enjoying the shows, why are shows being added? Prince is doing something right here. And just because a select few aren't enjoying the setlist, doesn't mean they represent ALL the fans here who went. Look, I want the new stuff to be played too and a few new or newer songs have been played but I'm LOVING these shows anyway and that's all that matters. Be happy that some part of the USA is getting a bit of what London got 3 years ago. That can be your "comparison" of sorts.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

thanks for the over analysis and all but you clearly have very low expectations. For the record there are full shows of the o2 kicking around in damn good quality out there [audio and video]. My point is that the US fans are getting short changed here but if that's what makes you lot happy then its just more $ for less work for P so it's a win/win!. Enjoy your experience!
