Need help choosing seats for the 18th!

Unfotunately, I'm missing the show on the 29th due to flight cancellation but am seriously considering buying some tickets for the 18th.

For those of you who have attended the MSG show(s), between Section 36 (unless I'm mistaken, I understand those "floor" seats are on risers?) and the Loges in sections 41-42 or 97, which would offer me the best view?

Thanks in advance for your point of view. And here's a picture of the MSG seating chart:

I'd go with 41 or 42. You'll see more of the stage from a decent angle (considering the numbers you listed).

Thanks. Yeah the numbers I listed are the ones I assumed would be the best seats available, but any sections that are highlighted in light & dark colours have available seats that I would consider getting.

Honestly, I would sit on the floor even on risers. But, I would go for those red seats. Here is an interactive seating chart. Just click your section and imagine the stage being in the center and not the back.

I'm in section 301.

I was in section 202 on the 12/18 and I thought my seats were decent. So 41 or 42 - that would be great!

Thanks for the replies. Between what I'm seeing here and what I've read here and there on forums, I'd be more inclined with the Loge seats (like 41-42)… but I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do. Those are from StubHub & such and the ticket prices are way inflated, it could end up costing me as much or more then what I had paid for the VIP tickets I had for the 29th which I'm ending up not using because my flight was cancelled. I love Prince, but I do have to try to think with my head & not just my heart!

I was in section 44 and my seats were EXCELLENT!

Anything in that general area will be great. You can see the full stage and you also have the monitors, though I rarely looked at them since the view was so good. I actually thought my seats were better than the floor seats because I was eye level and didn't have to look up the whole night.

Also, if it is possible, check StubHub closer to the day of the show. I made a last minute decision to go the the NJ show on 12/17 since I was already going to be in NY for the 12/18 show. I bought tix at 3:30 a.m. from StubHub below cost. They were in section 123 and were great for the Izod Center. They were $159 tix and I got them for $99 each.

I have section 45 for tonight, can't wait. I have had excellent seats on the horn side of the symbol between the horn and the arrow in various areas between very close to the stage up to the 200 seats so all different perspectives. This will be the first time on the other side, still front stage, but the other side.

I'm not having much luck finding good Loge seats for a good price—does anyone know if section 36 is any good? Its on risers I think.

I picked Sec. 116- I bought them on my Blackberry whole I was at the 12/18 show...

I saw the location first-hand and was fine with it. I was at the tip of the arrow on the floor twice, and on the trumpet side in 300s once, so I wanted a different angle.

I picked 100-level seating because I am taking my mom and I want her to be able to see the whole stage. biggrin

Sec 36 doesn't look bad, but I don't know if I'd choose it. shrug

Not too bad. You get a clear view of the whole stage and you are practically horizontal with the screens. I got some cool shots from up there...

After having been confined to a limited view on the floor, it was refreshing to see "outside the box". lol My friend and I planned it that way when we ordered the tix.

I think the people who feel they HAVE to be as close as possible did themselves a disservice by not stepping back for at least one show. They missed so much waiting for Prince to come near them. shrug

That's cool. Besides not being able to afford anything closer, I too chose the higher sections to get a full view for Jan 18. Not only that. I purposly chose seats kinda in the corner. For some reason it seems i'd get a better view than i would in the front. I had section 324 but changed it to 301 because I wanted to be by the point of the stage rather than the circle. I know it's all the same because the stage is in the middle but, I felt like I would not have had the best view. Now, the only problem is that when I called to exchange my tickets for the other section (301) the representative gave me row J and I agreed to that and hung up without realizing that it was the last row. I can't exchange again but, I plan to try when I get to MSG. If they deny me, I guess it wont be so bad since I have two aisle seats. I'll just try to make the best of it all.

When I went to see Prince at the MSG show on the 29th, I sat in section 228 row D. I had such a great view. I was almost dead center and I had no problem seeing Prince at all. Since your only two sections further away from where I was, you won't have a problem seeing Prince at all. It's nice looking down at him instead of up at him. (I've been to a concert like Prince's before where the stage was in the center of the arena and I had floor section seating, but it was standing room only. Even though I was about 20 feet from the actual stage, I could hardly see the performer half the time, plus being short didn't help either. neutral I didn't really enjoy myself at the concert that night. Had I known ahead of time that the stage was going to be in the center, I would have gotten seats further back.) I'm going back to see Prince on the 18th as well...my seats are in the 400's section this time, but I'm cool w/ that. razz

FOR THE FIRST PRINCE SHOW I SAT IN SECTION 97 WHICH WAS DEAD CENTER.. BUT HE SPENT MOST OF HIS TIME IN THE CENTER OF THE STAGE.. RIGHT INFRONT OF THE CIRCLE.. SO I WOULD GO WITH SECTIONS 51 TO 43 AND 81 TO 90. ON THE 29TH I SAW HIM FROM SECTION 51 AND IT WAS SOOO GOOD.. I COULD SEE HIS SWEAT!!!

Has it been normal for him to spend time in that little circle each time or was that just the 29th or does he move a bit....

Yes I had sec #103 on the 29th... and this time I will have 131. I was sort of hoping to score something more in the middle (as you said) but was not sure if the 29th was a one off thing as far as being near the circle.

Either way am super psyched to go again...will keep my eye open though for the sections or nearby you mentioned. Would love to see him sweat close up! I do have the chance to possibly trade with someone for Section 106...Maybe that is the better option. Under that/closer would be even better!
