3rd keyboard player above the mix board Did anyone notice the 3rd keyboard player perched up above the mix board? Why was he not on the stage? I was 2 rows behind him. He was playing a lot of what we were hearing especially B3 organ. | |

That is Morris Hayes. He has been in Prince's employ in one form or another, off and on, since 1986. He played alongside, and eventually replaced Tommy Barbarella...
No clue why he wasn't ON the stage, though. I didn't even see him. My friend told me he was back there. I was on the other side, but I knew he was there because of what we were hearing.

The only thing I can think of is that his equipment is rather large and intricate. He also runs the computers that control sound effects and background instrumental sounds. "Love Hurts. If you are doing sound effects, triggering pre-recorded backing vocals, etc., you'd probably not want to be on stage. You might be communicating with lighting, sound mix guy, etc., in real time and if you were on stage that would not synch with the on-stage show.

I was watching him play most of the show. He was playing normal keyboard parts on a normal setup. I did not notice him triggering any effects. He played a lot of organ. He did have a spotlight on him even though he was not on the stage. | |

Since 1986? First I heard of him was in Carmen Electra's short lived live band in 1992. He actually replaced Rosie Gaines after she decided to leave in the summer of 1992. Tommy was let go in 1996. TRUE BLUE |

He wasn't in Prince's employ in 1986, rather he was in Brown Mark's employ at that time. He was, however, distantly related to the Prince camp at that time. | |

Just to be fair- I just spent some time giving myself a headache poring over the small print in Days Of Wild and the first mention of Morris as an on stage musician was with Carmen's band 1992. However- to those giving my friend Chocolate some trouble here, you might note she said "Prince's employ" since 1986 which could mean a lot of things. Also of note- he was one of very small few to be invited to the wedding of P and Mayte which IMO shows a long history/friendship prior to the 90's. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
