Anyone else not really feeling the New Sound and song selections? When Prince announced he was kicking off this "Welcome 2 America" tour in the NY area I was all hyped up. Having Janelle Monae and the other artist on the bill made me even more excited to see this tour de force. But then the ticket price and time of the year got me a little disappointed and I didn't purchase tickets as soon as they went on sale. I figured I'd find tickets as we got closer to the actual performance dates, but the closer we get - the less interested I seem to be. I've listened to several of Prince's recent concerts and I'm not really feeling the sound or the set list. Renato (or whoever is playing keyboards) sounds off and doesn't seem to fit in with the sound of the rest of the band. There's WAY too much of Shelby J. singing lead vocals. And to me, the only impressive re-interpretation of a Prince classic is the new arrangement of "Little Red Corvette". Too many cover songs. Seven minute jams of Prince doing someone else's song is cool, but "Which Way Is Up", "Dance (Disco Heat)" and "We Party Hearty"? Come on. And lastly, exactly WHICH concert is supposed to feature Janelle Monae? Because as far as I can see online, Janelle is supposed to be in Europe next week. Not A Newbie, Just Reinvented | |

That's fine, but when you have been listening to the same songs live for 20+ years it gets a bit boring.

Well, We will miss u at the shows. Don't worry I'll have 13 mp photeos and 720p video for you. Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews. | |

which way is up is by starguard
dance disco heat is by silvester
