Girls (esp Elisa) appreciation after criticism...

The european tour now being over and having heard all the recordings by now I have to say I really think the criticism of the girls' performances is/was quite harsh. On an average Prince's shows were close to 2,5 hours of actual Prince-performance and therefore I think it's logical to have a performance like this during a break after an hour or so. Better this than SHORT performances (Nude Tour, extremely standard setlists or 2007 London , Booooooring) or musical breaks.

As far as the performances itself go, I think they were really quite good. Maybe Bridge over Troubled Waters was a weird choice at first but fortunately it was soon replaced by Free, which is in itself already a beautiful song. I know she got some serious criticism for it but somehow Elisa's performance is very controlled and pure with a beautiful voice; I just love it. The transition into Pearls Before The Swine is a bit weird, suddenly singing about baklava but then the threefold singing of '' like a bird'' by Elisa, Liv and Shelby with their is complementary voices is also very nice. LTWBD is one of THE overlooked Prince gems and the performance here does it justice very well.... Pity that during teh last shows the first two songs appear to have been dropped.

Overall, I think this was a very worthy replacement of NC2U (then again, anything would be!) and I really hope Prince re-uses it again for W2A....

P.S Anyone seen Elisa's performance of Shake Your Body from Arnhem??? I think she's getting better and better.......

I agree totally!

The girls did brilliantly and I was so happy to see Elisa take front stage when I was at the show in Bergen.

They kept the groove going while Prince changed into his pajamas! biggrin

I really liked them. Bridge, Free and Pearls, I don't care about much, but they sung it fine. Love... Thy Will Be Done was a great song in the sets. And as you say, any sing that replaces NC2U is not bad smile

Roskilde 117min. Berlin. 150min. Arras, La Citadelle. 130min. July Werchter, Festivalterrein. 130min. Vienna, Wiener Stadthalle 160min. Lisabon Super Bock 93min. Nice 130min Bergen 120min. Copenhagen 130min. Herning 117min. Rome 106min. Milano 140min. Antwerpen 160min. Abu Dhabi 120min. Arnhem 170min.

2,5 hour is 170 min so, how did U come up with that number? An Avarge show was more close to 2 hours. The girls was having the lead at Roskilde for 37 min. Sexy Dancer vs Le Freak/Angel/Lean On Me/Nothing Compares 2 U/Mountains/Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)/Dance (Disco Heat).

And they was boring

So was your english class you thought? And your maths class probably as well: 2,5 hours = 150 mins.

Guess, just went here

..., but probably did have the stopwatch running while listening to the Roskilde boot.

The girls, they were good.

Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.
