I have seen 15 Prince-conserts now and the best entrance was....... (drums) Copenhagen the 20th okt 2010. The energy was really high and he came walking slowly onto the stage and did Future Soul Song with a really cool dance in the end of the song. Magic!

Parade Tour 1986: Around the World In A Day behind a closed curtain. When the curtain finally openend at the "I think I wanna Dance" part the arena exploded. Formerly known as Parade @ HQ and formerly proud owner of www.paradetour.com

Super Bowl. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Parade tour, first dates in London 1986.
No one knew anything, what would he look like, what would he sing? Should there be flowers all over the place? Was he going to play Let's go crazy? Why was the Parade album all black & white? So many questions. No answers.
The concert starts with Around TWIAD, all black, no light, the curtain down all the to the line "think i wanna dance!" the curtain came down, orange lights, yellow loghts and a black and white chckerde stage and Prince in short haircut with black top.
It was a shock, completely different from the Syracuse concert with alla blue, purple and red lights, costumes, very slick, very proper.
It was a shock that it took years to come back from.

Just watch me at MSG. I will somersault onto the stage, land in a perfect split and fall face down with my ass in the air. Renato will then crawl out of my ass and play "Erotic City" on a melodica.

Since I'm a newbie to Prince concerts (needless to say I missed out on Dublin), but his recent Gelredome-gig entranced the heck out of me. Why? He sang his dirty lyrics, wore that see-through lace blouse of his and danced like he's supposed to dance.

Exactly mine too.
Plus the 1999 tour entrance was one of my favorites too watching him rise from the back of the stage in all the steam. Those were the days! Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I was seated right on the front row aisle seat of the aisle he was rolled down. As soon as that box came toward me and passed me, I screamed, "HEY, PRINCE IN THE BOX!" When he got on stage, and walked to the foot of the stage, I was jumping up and down waving my Prince symbol tambourine and he turned toward me and POINTED RIGHT AT ME WITH THAT "I WANT YOU!" pose with pointed index finger. Chile, I damn near shit my pants! The girl who came with me was freaking out screaming, "TRISH! TRISH! HE'S POINTING AT YOU!"

Same for me Mirabelle, It was my first Prince concert too. I still get goosebumps when I play ATWIAD and it gets to the point where the curtain fell !

Good post, interesting question.
For me, I'd have to go with 1998 at the Hippodrome in London - New Power Soul aftershow.
The reason being, it was my first ever aftershow, and I actually managed to talk to Chaka Khan and Kirk Johnson at the bar before the show. They said it was "unlikely" that the show would happen, cos they'd had problems with the PA in the soundcheck.
Whispers started going around and people started to leave, so imagine how ecstatic I was when the band finally got on the stage and Prince walked out! He just kinda casually walked down the nightclub steps (with lollipop) and got behind a keyboard.
Amazing - can still totally picture it right now.

The Jones beach show was my first Prince concert, blew me away. But wow, I kinda liked the Musicology tour entrance because it comes right after Alicia Keys' Hall of Fame Speech, and by that time you're hyped. [Edited 11/25/10 13:45pm]
