a thought on after- and pre-shows

I remember the day when we were looking out for rumours on whether something was going to happen after a concert (pre-shows didn't really happen IIRC). Mind you, this was before cellphones were in common use and we didn't even imagine stuff like twitter or facebook to exist ....

The location would usually be a club that was open to the public and sometimes he would spin records or the band would play without him or he would join and wreck the place with "tha funk".

It was all pretty natural and, again IIRC, we didn't have to shell out $100 or more to get in. He did it because he liked it and we were there because we love him.

What has happened since ?

so, that's it ? It has taken away a lot of the charm from aftershows.

Looks like club owners want to be paid too!

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

100 is a big pile of money for me, but I'm VERY happy I could be at the preshow in Brussels this weekend. The atmosphere, the songs, being around hardcore fans, the intimacy,... It was well worth it.

Not saying it wasn't better X years ago, but I just wasn't there.

I would say mostly that's it. I mean a long time ago aftershows meant a whole other thing. With the Las Vegas and London gigs they were annoucned ahead of time, tickets sold, so to me it was just like going to two concerts in one night, not really an aftershow compared to ones in the past.
