WORRIED about W2A Format!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really went a little nuts and bought VIP tix to the MSG show.

I also need to fly to NYC and get a hotel..

I really wouldnt care BUT:

Im feeling very anxious that i made the wrong decision because of the guest appearances of other artists and what this format will be.

I dont mind any of these people (except LG) as opening acts.....

But, how in the world is this going to be structured?

I sure as HELL dont want anyone singing Prince except Prince!

and i sure as HELL dont want my Prince concert interrupted with a different artists' performance.

It shouldnt be a surprise, Prince didnt sell it as anything different....

But Im just so worried that this trip will end in a disastrous concert experience....

I tried to see if I could see the tix on stubhub, etc.. but since the tickets are will call, I cant do it.

Anyone else a little terrified of what this concert format will be like?

lol If that's the way you feel, then maybe you should consider not going. Prince is going to invite who he pleases to open or perform with him, regardless of how anyone feels about it.

neutral Geez....I kinda know how you feel cause I have to fly in also and see the show AND invited someone I am seeing to fly with me to NY to see the show (that has never seen Prince live before). I got the cheap seats though....I am sure with all that talent in the building the show will be fantastic....it just won't be a Prince concert....

Its interesting cause the last time I was in MSG to see a show it was MJ and he was doing his 30th anniversary/celebration of new album thing and all these other people where there....N'Sync, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, etc. BUT MJ did a solid set alone AND with his brothers (first time in 20 years) so...I yawned at the first half but the second half was awesome! Maybe Prince with do something like that....who knows...

I don't think these guests are going to be opening acts. I think Prince will open the show with a few songs and then bring out a guest, who will then sing one of Prince's songs, like at the BET Tribute and then possibly a song or two of their own material backed by the NPG. Then Prince will proceed with his own set, and maybe then another guest doing another song of his, and back and forth until Prince closes the concert with some final numbers with the guests onstage as well. I feel for those who get Larry Graham as their guest perfomer! sad

Sad for you. I've seen Larry and the band a few times and it's a great show.

That said, I got the impression he'll have much more than one guest performer every night.

yeah feel 4 those that sees a funk legend and a kick ass bass player ..yep i feel 4 the actual fans of graham central station

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Not sad for me. I won't be there. I've seen Larry perform with Prince countless times, the Paisley Park show in Oct 2009 being the last. Prince called Larry up on stage and the crowd became noticeably quiet. I mean how many times do we have to hear Everyday People and I Want To Take You Higher? That said, I got the same impression that there will be more than one guest also.

I would not be surprised at all if these shows just end up being Prince concerts; no side acts at all. Although I'm definitely hoping for Sheila...

That's what I think. I think he'll have an opening act or two out of the list of names he mentioned, but I know Prince isn't going to just do a few songs and go sit backstage. He said in the press conference to come often so that probably translates into you won't be seeing this artist on this night so if you want to see Janelle Monea come on the 18; but if you want to see Esperanza Spalding come on the 17 and so on. I highly doubt he's willing to share his concert earnings every night with this many people...those tickets would have been waaay more expensive in that case. The special guests may perform for the first 30-45 minutes and the rest of the show is Prince. They don't list an end time so who knows how long this show may end up being, but Prince doesn't usually do less than 2 hours so you'll get your Prince fix. nod

I understand how you feel OP! I went all out and got tix to all 3 NJ shows, then after spending all that cash...I thought to myself..."what if this ends up a disaster and Prince plays like 2-3 songs and then all these other people sing?" I would be so disappointed!! I don't care about these other folks, I just want Prince!! I think its fine if he has an opening act to do a couple of his songs, maybe even a song or 2 of their own...especially Larry Graham and Mint Condition...I'm excited about seeing them cause I've loved them both for years!

But I want 85% Prince at least!!! OF all the people named, he is the ONLY one I would have spent that much money to see!! So I"m keeping my fingers crossed that we get mostly Prince. Rave performance was a little too much of other performers IMO, I would have been fine with just LG and LK, and MP, but the rest was unnecessary. Please Prince, 85-90% of the show so I don't regret spending all this money to attend these 3 shows!!

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

there definitly should be a set list, especially if he does one in Europe, and give out all the tour dates. And whats fucked up is that he is probably getting the low down on everyones comments here and laughing that everyone is in a frenzy over this. He does have a slightly inflated ego! But i love him and as long as he is on stage it will rule. I had to see him with Tamar, she sang mostly and sucked ASS!

The stage is his freaking symbol. I dont think this is situation where Prince plays 5 songs. I just hope I get Janelle one night and Sheila E the other night I am going and not LG and MC... but in the end it doesnt matter that much cause Prince don't dissappoint live.

LOL wait wait u got info about tickets but not about who was performing? falloff and then u respond 2 calling me a name i'm not which makes u even more stupid in the process. this is why some should stay in school and get their education, cause when u leap u fall and when u fall u need 2 check youself before u get another foot up yo ass and now it comes 2 pass another rookie see trying 2 go up against the one who is called O.G. and instead of coming up roses u just get burned so stop blaming others 4 ur incompetence like KRS ONE said YOU MUST LEARN

Thee's no need to be worried about anything at this point. Stop speculating because you're just going to drive yourself nuts for no reason. If you already have tickets, who cares what the format is going to be like because you're going anyway.... right? All that really matters is who is headlining and we already know the answer to that question.
