Welcome to America at IZOD DEC 15

Does anyone have tickets for the 15th? I looked at all of you guys post and saw nothing for the 15th in new jersey. I dont want to see the place look like a ghost town. Btw this is my first Prince concert, im excited.

I was just on Ticketmaster's site and did a search for 8 seats together and was getting sections in the 100s for all three shows. These don't seem to be selling nearly as well as the NY shows.

I'll be there on the 15th with a friend. biggrin

I have been trying to defend NJ for the past couple of days on here... some people seem to think that only NYC is "it".

I doubt very seriously that it will empty, tho. shrug

Nothing can replace the Garden, but the IZOD Center won't be bad at all, benefits of a smaller venue. Take a look:

Good point about the IZOD Center. It's a much smaller venue.

MSG is in a prime location. A major tourist attraction. Penn Station is the transportation hub just below with local trains, Amtrak, PATH NJ train system, and the Long Island Rail Road station, trains people could take that would connect them to the Airtrain to JFK and Newark airports. Taxis are available everywhere. A multitude of hotels in the area/surrounding areas. Then you have Times Square, which is about a train stop or two away or you can walk to it. People can enjoy the many street vendors and the many subway musicians.

You have Macys' in Herald Square around one, long block over, including the 34th street shopping mall, where tourists/fans visiting can enjoy shopping for clothes, the fast food eatery on the lower level, toy stores for the kids, etc. The 12/18 show is in time for people who have their kids with them, and bringing to the show, to visit the Macy's store holiday window. Then there's Rockefeller Center not far way, and Radio City Music Hall's holiday show taking place in time to see the big Xmas tree, and you have Times Square and Broadway- the theatre district, not that far a stop or two on the train, where visitors can see a play while they are here. BBKings venue, and a host of clubs all over Manhattan. They can visit Grand Central Station, and the area around and shop there as well. Then there's Bloomingdale's on 59th and Lexington Ave, and many popular shops on that stretch. The King Tut exhibit at the Discovery Center in Times Square is still going on. Museums, The Empire State Building, etc., Loads of things to do and see in Manhattan, not far from 34th street. Not bragging about NY, but you know... just sayin'...lol

Could you imagine how people in the hood would react to Prince in Brick City! eek

I find it so funny how Jersey people act like going to NYC is like going cross country and NY people act like coming the NJ is like they are going to Africa. I live in NJ, and I'm not afraid to hop the train or PATH to NYC but I rarely can get anyone to go with me, and trying to get my NYC friends to come visit NJ is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!! Both have their good and bad points, and while MSG is a great arena it's in the middle of a friggin' tourist trap. It's like the Bermuda Triangle. The Izod Center may not be in a hub, but at least you aren't being run over by camera happy tourist all looking up instead of in front and around themselves.

I was surprised he didn't add Nassau Colisseum like he usually does, when he does MSG. But another show at MSG would be just fine, if that was to happen.

I'll be at all 3 IZOD shows, those were the ones I was shooting for...I like the smaller venue size! Got decent seats all 3 shows, except the 17th, I think the seats are kinda funky, but who cares! I'm in there. I tried for tickets at MSG but they were already sold out! After spending alot on the NJ shows, I was hoping for cheap tickets at the MSG shows, but didn't get them. But I"m sure I'll be able to score some before the date..I'm going to plan on staying until the 19th anyway...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

They are not that far apart. People from NY don't wanna go to NJ or what?. I personally would go for the smaller venue.

I lived down in Asbury Park for a little bit. I learned how true the Bennie statement really was, the first weekend after Memorial Day. eek

Hopefully Prince will have some respect and remember "Hello, Jersey"!

I saw him in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and people were pissed because he kept calling them Scranton. lol

I hope he adds some Philly dates. I love the vibe at those shows! biggrin

I live in Jersey now and I can understand the sentiment of travelling there from NY since most NY's dont have cars. I guess it seems like a hastle. When I was in Miami, it was nothing for me to drive to Fort Lauderdale but I guess the whole NY-NJ thing is different.

An additional note, NYC 12/29 is going to be crazy. You already have tourists from around the world who fly in for the New Years Eve Times Square frenzy, plus the Christmas holidays around that time, that area will jammed pack with all kinds a ish!

Yeah, that's why I didn't even try for Dec. 29 tix. nod

It just annoys me that people keep putting us down.... where in NJ are you? smile
