2011 rumours

http://www.londonticketcentre.com/prince/

Prince is set to announce numerous 2011 shows, including UK tour dates if the constant rumours are true.

Prince could be in line for stadium shows across the UK next summer, with venues in London, Manchester and Birmingham likely, as well as a host of European venues.

Hmm. I'm thinking loud now: Not interested in stadium shows. The art is too far to feel it. And the artist becomes an image on - instead of a creator of - the big screen. No thanks.

Exactly: same setlist in a stadium: no way!

Think about the 1993 situation: then the setlist did work well in e.g. Wembley Stadium.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I agree ref setlist wouldn't work - seeing Wembley Stadium 1993 mentioned brought back some great memories. I had just turned 22 and ran across that pitch quicker than any football player has ever done and got right to the very front and it was probably the best prince gig i ever went too as i didn't have to watch the screen to watch him and could savour the atmosphere as the screens showed the crowd behind me. I have just been listening to the gig again and the opening of My Name is Prince to Sexy MF and then the guitar work on She's Always in My Hair, The Cross, SOT and Purple Rain is unbelievable and the reason why i am mentioning this is that i agree ref the setlist has to be big and rocked out for a stadium but he wouldn't have 80,000 singing sexy mf back at him and he has changed the cross to the christ etc as examples of how he has changed. Back then, through the Controversy fanclub he asked what songs should be played on the tour and i think that would be a good idea again if he got feedback again if he wanted to listen.

FUNK & PEACE

A couple of Canadian dates wouldn't hurt either! Montreal Jazz Festival would be great!
