Does anyone know how the Wingate by Wyndham-Manhattan Midtown rates?
I got the hotel from the link someone kindly posted on this forum. Is it close enough to walk to MSG?
Also, I found the Holidy Inn Express NYC Madison Square Garden. Anyone know much about either one of these?
I am from NC; therefore, I will be traveling about 8 1/2 - 9 hours...I love to visit NYC anyway, so this is the perfect chance to take a mini vacation.
But I want to ensure that I get as close to the venue as possible to avoid cabs and all that jazz.
Can anyone here help me out?
Thank you!!
Also, I think I have read a few "rumors" about ticket pricing, does anyone have any inside info on the MSG venue prices?
Sorry, I just saw your post. Personally, I don't think I would stay at the Holiday Inn Express near MSG. MSG is built on top of Penn Station (Amtrak, NJ Transit etc. train station) and there are a lot of transient characters that hang out there. And Holiday Inn Express doesn't sound good to me.
See my post in response to Dreamer2 -- you really don't need to take a cab to MSG, in fact I would advise against it. It is pretty easy to take the subway and there are multiple lines that stop there; so *I* would try to get a hotel somewhere else away from MSG. However, if you want the NYC hustle and bustle then go for it.
Hey Jone, and thank you for the orgnote!
Okay, I know this may sound silly but, how difficult is the subway? LOL. Been to NY, but have never even attempted the subway.

Subways are pretty easy to manage, if you go the wrong way, it is easily corrected. The subway (The A/C line and some others) literally let you off under MSG, you don't even have to go outside.

i'd recommend the new yorker hotel.. stayed there a few years ago,( it's a bit spit & sawdust ) BUT reasonable rates & nearly smack bang on top of msg!.... lots of pubs nearby.. perfect 4 a few beers, dancing all night with prince & stagger back 2 room. hopefully the lift will work.
Sorry but I disagree. The New Yorker is where europeans who don't know anything about the city stay It is across from Penn station and MSG but it's not that nice. it looks like it used to be decades ago. Don't know the prices but there are plenty of nice hotels in the city and MSG is accessible by all the major subway lines.

i did not say this was the best/nicest/poshest/stylish hotel in nyc BUT it's cheap & really close to the venue.
if your budget is limited & u can cope with no frills then i would recommend if anything purely for the location.
it's not directly opposite the station... the location is fine.

actually, i just checked hotels.com.
the new yorker has had a refurb since i went & must reflect in the price. it's not that cheap! perhaps something to do with time of year (flight prices hiked too) but still good value imo..
the hotel does have a lot of character, it's art deco, got some history.
i've stayed all around nyc & remember having so much fun on that occasion
i'd come along if i could afford. shit i'm so tempted! [Edited 10/29/10 5:05am] |

2 Things:
1. The Seating charts / guitar shaped stage: Where would you guess are the best seats except for the stage area? So is it better to be in block 55, 67, 77 or 96 (for example) ??
2. How does this t-shirt ordering work? Why do I get a redemption code? |

Having been to MSG for the Musicology Tour where he also played in the round there will be no bad seats. He plays to all sides and the view is infinitely better than when the stage is at one end of the arena.
As far as the redemption code it's because all of the materials with the VIP packages and the t-shirt add ons will be mailed to the buyer. They will not be given to you at the show. They are also not guaranteed to arrive to you prior to the day of the show. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

I would say by the arrow. I looked at some clips of the 02 concerts on youtube and, while it is in the round, it looks like he tends to favor that side of the stage. Having said that, I doubt we will have any choice in the matter. Have to take the first things that come up in the price range we choose. [Edited 10/29/10 6:25am] |

It's because of the holiday season that the prices are hiked, and will be like that until the end of December, starting in November. Check the thread I made in this forum (Concerts forum) regarding hotel information/availbility in the NY/NJ area. |

I suggest going through Livenation/ticketmaster with password "lights".
No one has gotten a password from BET. |

same thing then i redid "best availble".
got section 100's for 12/29. they are still popping up. (In fact I got row D. i did it gain and got row A but didnt' want to buy again for same night though I prob could resell but not in this for profit!)
12/18 kept saying NA or i got 300 level which I didn't take.
[Edited 10/29/10 7:22am]
Weird. I just got 100 level for 12/18. Then before I did "buy" I got 90 level for same date (using 2 PCs) so I took those. no logic here. other times still say none avail [Edited 10/29/10 7:29am] |
