Start of ticket sales for Antwerp and Helsinki postponed! http://www.sportpaleis.be/ Ticket sales for the Prince concert on October 26th at the Antwerp Sportpaleis will not be starting tomorrow morning at 9am. However, it is possible to register your email address. When the definitive starting time for ticket sales is established, you will receive an email containing this information. Ticket sales are being postponed for reasons to do with production. The concert production team are making some last minute changes to the technical lay-out of the venue. As a result, the organisers have no choice but to postpone ticket sales until production has been finalised. The Belgian concert is part of a European tour, stopping off in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Italy. The date for the Antwerp concert, October 26th, is certainly not under any threat. Prince fans will have to show a little bit extra patience, but it will definitely be worth the wait! The organisers apologise for any inconvenience.

Can't say that I'm too surprised about this... Like I said, I won't believe he's performing until he gets on stage.
If I hadn't already been at the O2 three years ago, I would be buying tickets for another show just to be safe(r). Maybe that's the plan? To get people buying duplicate tickets.

Any news yet? Every day that goes by without hearing when the ticket sale starts makes me more and more uncomfortable about whether the show will go on or not... You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

It is not a hint, it is highly unprofessional management and very rude towards the fans to change schedules with very little warning time.
Why oh why was there some sort of agreement and a presale announced? Because mr P could change his mind in such a big way that they cannot accomodoate these changes in an hour or two (just change some numbers of tickets here and there for the presale) but postpone stuff indefinitely (still no presale date known). And exactly this appears to have happened. Or we see at least two cases of severe miscommunication which require some 'management' involvement because of the long delays that are caused. Why not do the presale on the saturday? Or announce it for monday? No.... They are slow and uncertain. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

As of this morning, the Finnish promoter is saying that the Helsinki concert has been postponed to a later date...

This is starting to look like the last four times Prince was scheduled to perform in Helsinki http://www.lippu.fi/Publi...mp;theme=3 "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

my god, this is bad!
i hope antwerp doesn't share the same faith!

This is peak unprofessionalism until we hear the REAL story.
How can a (supposedly professional) promotor announce presales and then postpone them and then postpone the whole gig? Something very similar is going on in Antwerp. Different promotor. Same 'artist'. Now what would be the cause? You take a guess. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Even Prince is propably the best living performer, there won't be any audience left, if he doesn't fix this and soon. This kinda behaviour is very rude towards people who have supported him several decades already.
I'm so mad at this moment. Especially when I have to disappoint my dear daughter who was going to Helsinki concert. For me this was the third time.

Why would you trust them after mismanaging the situation in Helsinki? I guess the same 'isue' causes the delay. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I know we both know, that "issue" means a lot of $$$ in this case, and I think a show in Belgium sells out faster than in Finland, so, the Antwerp show will go ahead I AM LOOKING FOR USED PRINCE CONCERT TICKETS ... https://www.facebook.com/...erttickets

Dang, if Prince isn't careful he's going to be known as the George Jones of his era.
And I don't mean the "He Stopped Loving Her Today" George Jones. I mean No-Show Jones.
True story - my dad owned a C&W club back in the 60's. George Jones was booked, and actually showed up. But one song into the set, he turned his back on the crowd. My dad's partner realized that Jones was taking a pee right on stage, and threw George out onto Telephone Road.

It's not the issue of selling the show. Prince would defenitely sell out the gig in Helsinki, if he only bother to come at all. He has already sold out 4 arenas in 1988 and 1990.
But this way, he will only loose a tons of diehard fans. And worse than that, the next P-generation as well - including my 11 years old daughter.
I'm sure there won't be any concert in Antwerp either. My wild guess is, that he is "blackmailing" the concert organizers to give more money ahead or something. [Edited 10/4/10 7:54am]

promotors dilemma, will we pay Prince $1.000.000,00 and will we sell enough tickets to cover this. I AM LOOKING FOR USED PRINCE CONCERT TICKETS ... https://www.facebook.com/...erttickets

Well, there isn't such a problem in Finland. Helsinki Areena is much more bigger place than most of the concert places in 20TEN tour. For me, this is a proof of how unprofessionally things are arranged in Prince's management.
You just don't cancel 5 arena concerts in a row at the same country and get away from it. This of course, IF Helsinki concert isn't just postponed. There's a still slight hope, they will find resolution.

Maybe it is the same type of postponement as the Geneva gig. I mean: this small set of shows could also have landed there but (so far) it doesn't. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I don't think poor ticket sales is the reason for this, as tickets never even went on sale, right? So no one would really know if there was going to be poor ticket sales, correct?
If the stage excuse isn't valid, then I'm guessing one side didn't want to pay the other side up front.
Just a guess, though. I hope the show goes on.

Ticket sales certainly isn't an excuse when lesser acts perform on the arena regularily. There just aren't that many shows in Finland to begin with.
I would agree that the real reason is money and/or contract issues. The promoter is a newcomer who has sold about as many tickets to all his shows as there are seats on the arena... There's no way he would be able to pay anything substantial in advance, and there's no way he would risk everything by selling a million euros worth of tickets without a solid contract.
