Tour update

http://www.drfunkenberry....ouncement/

We’ve been keeping you up to date with the latest on the Fall leg of Prince’s 20Ten tour inEurope, which so far is set to funk through Finland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Italy. Now here’s some official purple nuggets about the upcoming tour…

Drummer John Blackwell is back on stage for the October dates in Europe. He’ll be joined by newcomer Ida Nielsen of Denmark on the funky bass. We can’t wait to hear these two hold it down for the Purple Yoda.

We’re also being told that the one and only Sheila E. will be joining the tour. Hot like soup right there, y’all.

The set list will be similar to the earlier 20Ten shows from this summer. So lots of great hits mixed in with some unexpected surprises. You know Prince will always surprise, no matter how many times you’ve seen him.

Ticket sales have already kicked off as of yesterday and they’re going FAST. So if you’re even thinking about hitting one of the shows, don’t delay.

As for the rest of the dates on the tour? Prince won’t commit to any long term plans with promoters so we’ll just have to sit tight and see where else his Royal Badness will decide to visit. It’s just the Prince way, right?

Yeah, we know it can be frustrating for fans who are trying to make plans, but hey, it keeps us on our toes, right? <img src=" /> – Dr.FB

I see just lame excuses for shoddy 'management' without any regard for fans.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

That is indeed the crux: these excuses pretend as if real life doesn't exist. It is all fun and games. No limitations, bosses, schedules, deadlines, etc.

Is it surprising in this economic climate? After the Ireland business I m sure he is seen as huge liability and he is probarly are finding lots of venues wont lie down for him (like the record companies, itunes etc).

Spend all that money to promote his show yet have no managers to communicate with then he can throw a hissy fit at the last moment and pull out. Then they gotta drag him through the court to get their money back.

Two highly publicised cancellations in the last couple of years. I m guessing the purple credit rate & brand are losing their touch and are seen more as a risk.

I m sure he's stamping in his purple heels looking for a way around cutting out concert venues next he'll be hiring a marque or just his own stage to play in a field lol.

He goes on tour with no website, no official communication besides through some celebrity blog and only a couple of weeks notice. Guess he dont think his fans have jobs, commitments or may need time to save during the current climate.

Free but no quality of service control tsk tsk.

Seems whatever he does we will still get the trolls on this forum, complaining, yet not going to see him.

Wrong. I have my ticket, and I'm ready to go wherever else as long I could afford it and have the time.

Playing the mysterious one announcing shows with such short notice just don't help anyone. If these were "club shows" the plan would work anyway, but we're talking arenas and stadiums here. It's just common sense to understand that many fans will have a hard time taking time off from their jobs and arranging travelling in the current economic climate.

Well, I guess he was referring to the other troll! wink biggrin

Agree with what you say though... and the not announcing all dates at once doesn't help either! If I'd known for sure that he won't go to Zurich I would go to Milan, but so far I'm still hoping for Zurich! But then again... these are luxury problems... at least he's doing concerts!

@psyche2

I might take up on that offer in case standing should go sold out... I'm a bit worried about that... but then again... Prince is not so hot these days! wink

@gerhard12

I've been there in '00 at a Ricky Martin show and in '01 at a Madonna show! So it's a while ago and memory is a bit fuzzy, but I don't recall any particularly bad memories! Of course standing is good, if you got a good spot! I was sitting on both shows though!

To him, this is real life. He just wants to play and doesn't give a rats ass if it's a problem for anyone to attend or not. Sadly that's not how it works for most of us, but apparently he's in a position where it doesn't matter if and how it works and for who, as long as it works for himself.

We know, and there the shoddy part starts.

This implies a slight disconnect with the every day working man's life.

One time or another shit will hit the fan...

Didn't you notice last summertour that the presales weren't swell evenrywhere? (Berlin, Geneva, Werchter, Nice...)

Gone are the days where Prince announces tours months in advance. Nowadays it appears that he couldn't care less if the fans that have supported him throughout the years attend his concerts or not. To charge 100+ euros per ticket is way way out of touch with reality and with his everyday fan. Don't get me wrong £31.21 was a bargain to see him in 2007, but really to charge that amount for ticket, plus plane tickets, hotel costs etc etc involves a bit of saving and preparation, not 2/3 weeks notice.

It is only my opinion but i believe that Prince knows that he is not a marketable star anymore, people, fans and promoters have lost faith in him and i think that by putting on this air of mystery i.e short notice concerts, no promotion, will he won't he turn up, then this in some way increases the hype regarding these concerts (i don't even think this is intentional marketing ploy by him, i just think he's lost his touch).

I'm now in a position where even if he did come back to the UK, i could not justify £100+ to see him (and yes i've seen him numorous times), i think that it may only take another Croke Park style fiasco for a lot of loyal fans to say enough is enough, and with Prince's track record this may happen soon. Mind you i'm sure that a lot of people will put excuses up for him.....it's just Prince, it was the promoter's fault blah blah blah!!

AND ON THE 7TH DAY OF THE 6TH MONTH..GOD CREATED FUNK!!!

It's not what I like too, but we have to accept that this is it. He has made himself free from what he feels as constraints, record company, selling records and touring obligations. With that freedom comes his desire to do what he feels like doing. It's not commercially sane and it is not supportive of his fanbase. But it is what he does. Who are we to tell him what to do? And of course he's not connected with the every day working man's life. Which artist is? But then again, he doesn't live an every day working man's life either.

And yes, he doesn't sell it out (as fast) like he used to. Maybe one day it will hit him in the pocket and he will start to plan his concerts in a more structured way and more in advance. Logistically it doesn't make sense to tour in the summer for a few dates, go back to the states and bring everybody here for another nine or so shows. That's madness. and a good tour manager would tell him so. Although, who's gonna argue with him. Not a lot of people.

Those are some valid points. But let not forget, Prince is still one of the few artists who can sell out 15000 people venues in a day, like Copenhagen (and without a doubt Antwerpen)

Duh..

We are his most dedicated part of the fanbase.

Normal people would already have said byebye.

But of course no one can reach mr P.

And if one does he has some oneliner ready.

Well, according to this: http://www.ticketone.it/E...ryOption=1 there won't be any golden circle... so first come, first serve... or being sneaky, first serve! wink
