I must say that I was completely surprised and still adjusting to Prince covering Sylvester during his concerts this past summer. I dj and have that song on vinyl (of course) in my collection. Its 80s Gay Bar 101. I just dont think he would of played this in the US. I think Europe has much more of a liberted dance culture. The cover was great, dont get me wrong.

What 'gay' did you discover in the Prince `disco heat` performances that you listened to?

(or rather: what 'gay' did I miss while at these gigs?)

Sylvester was Gay, The song Dance (disco heat) is still played in a lot of Gay Bars with old school format. Its not a song I would expect to hear at a Prince Concert. It was a pleasant surprise. Maybe he will cover Supermodel by RuPaul or Native Love by Divine. Catch my drift yet?

Well, I did not know this context of this song and/or in this culture.

I listened to the performance as is.

Maybe heard the original once later on, when I got home.

So it's a different perspective to me.

I think that is too cool, being I was and still am a "fan" of Sylvester! I hope, "Do You want to Funk" is next on the list for coverage.
