Please avoid the usual negativity: Why hasn't Prince called in to the UK this time?

It's clear from the 21 nights residency he'd sell enough tix to fill somewhere big (the usual suspects).

Everyone keeps saying "he's in it for the money" so why not come and pocket a bit?

My thoughts is (as I believe has been expressed elsewhere) he's looking for new audiences, hence going to places he struggles to sell out.

But surely once the sets are built, the songs and the band is rehearsed, its just a matter of booking a venue, turning up, making the UK audience happy and bagging the money.

And from the 21 nights example, picking up a few new fans too: We all took at least one non Prince fan on one of the nights we went didn't we? Of the 5 nights I went 2 nigts I took non Prinec fans who would definately go again!

Prince doesnt choose where he goes, it is the promotors that offer him.

It is upto him if he does the shows that are offered.

And no UK promotor has offered him .

So him asking 1.5M USD per show, is about 940,716.55 GBP at this point in time.

Give a 20.000 place venue like the O2, makes 47.04 GBP per ticket sans profit or cost for the venue. Add a few and swiftly we are at 60, or 60+ GBP.

Is that a competitive ticket price?

Ozzfest at the O2 is 45 GBP....

Bon Jovi tickets were around £150 (on average) - upfront were £400-odd

I'd happily pay £60 for Prince...

However, everybody wants to see Prince aftershows, right? He should do a tour of teeny tiny venues, charge £100 a ticket start to help pay for a late license, start at 10 and just play until 1 or 2... chuck in a few greatest hits, a few covers (Here comes Larry!), some fan favorites and 20 minute funk jams. We'd all be happy

Indeed. I am not (yet) and industry insider. So I estimated about 10 GBP for the venue, ticket agency, etc. Perhaps a low sum, but it was a guesstimate after all...

Tiny venues, even with 100 GBP tickets, do not earn him enough.

Please review the 1.5M USD situation and do your math to find the optimal venue size (`low` price yet optimal show experience for the visitors).

Don't be worrying about this, sure he's playing across the pond in Ireland in a few weeks, 2 nights at the o2, guaranteed. Couldn't go into specifics cos of the gagging order you see

Surely he must be making more money than other artists as he has no record company or executives unless Larry Graham is the new code name for Record Manager.

I thought he had raked it in at the o2 residency for £31.21!

I guess the over head fees are still the same whether you charge £20.10 a ticket or £210 a ticket so in theory the cheaper the better (as long as your making a small amount of profit) cos more people will be able to afford it and will go to multiple nights etc.

I am waiting for him to do BOGOF offers or Free concert tickets when you buy collect the tokens in the Sun lol.

Do I get a discount if I skip the Larry Graham performances?
