Prince in Brabanthallen ?!

Hi, just got news from a friend;

Libema ( owner of the Brabanthallen ) is negotiating with the management of Prince to come to Holland in september 2010.

The Brabanthallen is a venue with a maximum capacity of 18.000 people and not unknown to Prince as he played there in 25/03/1995.

Lets hope dhr. Dirk Lips decides to take on this opportunity and make a lot of Dutch Prince fans happy !

Regards,

A Prince fan

Brabanthallen, hope the venue isn't the same as in 1995.

Felt like being with too many cows in a overheated stable back then.

Hope this will come around though !

Oh no. I was there in '95 and it truelly was a furnace. But it also stank of cow poo confused . Why doesn't he simply go to the Ahoy, or Heineken Music Hall. Even Thialf was better than Brabanthallen!

This is the life. Everyone has to be somewhere, I am here...........

Indeed he also played at "De Brabanthallen" in August 93. It would be nice if he decides to come to Holland but please not there again...

He should do the Heineken Music Hall (5500capacity) for three evenings in a row, and hit Amsterdam with an aftershow (Paradiso, Melkweg, etc.)

But i keep dreaming.

Fully agree. Please no Brabanthallen - worst acoustics ever.

I love Prince and chocolate - in that order

They (Libema) have other venues as well. Brabanthallen are probably the worse for concerts. The new omnisport in Apeldoorn would be a nice place.

You have been to one of the concerts in Den Bosch, right?

Then i imagine, you would rather spend a few hours extra on travel then going there!

But of course, a venue in the west would be better wink

I have good memories to the Brabanthallen shows, I went to 4 shows in total (2 x '93 and 2 x '95) and one show was even was on my birthday (isn't that a treat) especially the Gold experience tour was lots of fun. For me it where the best shows ever, because prince was eager to show Warner Bros. that he could be succesful without their help.

Which inspired Prince and the NPG to give a little more energy on the stage.

In '93 my girlfriend caught a prince tamborine, and Prince performed a raw version of the song "Come" which was not released at the time.

Arriving at the venue 24 hours before the first show started, sleeping the car, eating junkfood for 3 days in a row.

Those where really "the days of wild" !

But hey as we all get older I will settle for buying a golden circle ticket and come pretty close to the stage to see the purple yoda.

It ain't oveR

Hey... THAT'S MY STORY!!! cool

I really enjoyed the shows in the Brabanthallen... we were standing frontrow in a "goldcircle" that was filled for only 50-60% because everybody that entered the frontrow-area immediately was "forced" to sit on the ground... so that area looked full, but it wasn't... cool

My brother caught Mayte's tambourine... just a tambourine with the symbol on it but with a red-white ribbon on it... he gave it to me... biggrin

Are you sincere?

Blinded by fanatism?

You cannot think of a better location?

Please take into account that some people travelled during this tour and saw P at a variety of locations.

Some of which better than the Brabanthallen, with all due respect.

Why not Ahoy?

It is smaller, better fitted for a concert and easier to find for Swiss people.

Yes, I know.

Yes, I know.

The main concert hall of Ahoy is being renovated right now. They are using Gelredome XS as a replacement for the time being.

They could use the area they used for North Sea Jazz though...

But I prefer Heineken Music Hall!

The most desolated urban area in the Netherlands? Expensive and not so practical?

Oh puhlease! (yes, I am in Bart mode(TM) today)

Don't we have a venue with teh ease and friendliness of the Effenaar, yet bigger? (10.000 plus places)

I know a small venue has better sound, more vibe etc but then the ticket prices go sky high as he asks $ 1,5 mlj for playing ....

I do not live too far from the Brabanthallen but doing a show(s) there does imply that the country is otherwise devoid of decent concert venues.

I.e.: the same thing about the Cannes situation.

These casses cannot be true.

So why oh why don't we do a show elsewhere?

Ziggo Dome. Next to the HMH. But it's not finished yet unfortunately.

HMH isn't too bad, it has got a good sound.

But the location is awful and expensive to park.

I wil not soon forget my 2007 Michael, George concert experience at the nearby Arena because of the parking issues. It took ages and cost money as well.

But the capacity of the ArenA is 10x that of the HMH, so of course it will take longer to get out of the parking garage. I go to the HMH quite a lot and I have never ever had to wait to get out of the garage.

You can also buy a parking/exit ticket at the HMH box office, I think it's 9 euros or something (valid for all garages except P1).

I suggest you'd go by train and put your car by the train station of Abcoude.

All the HMH events end at a specific time the trains are still operating.

Unless you're going te the aftershow biggrin

That won't be an issue. P cannot sell out the Arena in a reasonable time anymore.

And Michael, George didn't do aftershows back then...

I think Prince absolutely can sellout the HMH for several evenings if it's in Septembre/Octobre. The big issue with not selling out concerts this summer is the ticket price and a lack of promotion.

The ziggo dome isn't build yet, but will be an 15.600capacity Arena next to the Amsterdam Arena and the HMH

The HMH is a small black box with 5.500capacity http://www.heineken-music-hall.nl/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/w...Music_Hall

What idiots chose that location?

In the same old unusable and expensive part of the country?

Why not next to the Ahoy or the Effenaar?

Amsterdam is not the center of the country, they even pretend the crisis is over, over there. (yes, house prices are rising again... there)

But aside from that criticism: ETA for that hall?

I don't think it's a bad location. Only when there's a concert in the Amsterdam Arena, parking is horrible (experienced with U2 and Madonna, both not great concerts).

But concerts in the HMH don't have that parking problem and I think the parking problems with the Ziggo Dome aren't gonna be any worse then with the Ahoy in Rotterdam. Also in Rotterdam you have to pay € 10,- parking fee I remember).

The fact Amsterdam was chosen as location for this concert arena was because Amsterdam is a more apealing city for big artists to include in their concert tour. Utrecht would be the best location for most Dutchmen. (but who knows Utrecht outside of our country?) Amsterdam is a great brandname to use for a concert arena.

Eindhoven would be more worse as a location instead of Amsterdam in my opinion.
