Wow, and this is why I hardly ever come on Prince.org any more......
I think that the moderater really ought to step in when this kind of attack happens. This kind of language should not be tolerated on here...

The only complaint my ass has is with you saying that it's complaining. I'm just pointing out that for the O2 gigs - and I'm sure AEG and Prince did speak about how to promote the gigs, don't you? - and that he has played 1999 since 1999.
There is no need to suggest I'm jaded or fucked up in the head just because I corrected your small errors. Just take a couple of deep breaths We ain't from Hollywood, so you know it's all good

This why i didnt bother to answer back, the lauguage being typed says a lot. I detect anger issues or shes just plain crackers. shes like that a lot on the org spitting venom to others. god knows why i replied to her post in the first place, i should know better and stay away from that crap. But its so much easier to hate than it is to love FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

Whatever … I enjoyed the concert at Arras very much.
Thought he would end after 90 minutes but it went on for another 45 mins. (Compared to Vienna it was short, but that would be complaining on a very high level!) I totally LOVED the first 45 guitar driven minutes and thought P really deserved a break after giving his heart and soul. He even gestured to the audience that his hands and arms needed a rest. If he had gone home after that I wouldn’t have been too disappointed because he played a fantastic version of Controversy. My way of attending a concert has totally changed over the years. I used to take pen and paper to a show to write down the setlist. Then in the 90ies other people did this as well and I would get the setlist via fanpages. So I started to enjoy the shows even more and lived in the moment! But now it seems as if the majority of people just record snippets with their phones and won’t participate. Back to the concert. I was a little confused to read on the mainsquare festival site that the show would start at 17.00 at which time I was still stuck in a traffic jam in Anvers. When it rains it pours. Even the French border patrol was in action stopping cars. Fortunately my ticket read 20.00 hrs and I already thought about suing the promoter I arrived at my hotel at 19:35 and was a little in a hurry. If the show had started at 17:00 Prince was to be on stage at 20:00. In Berlin he was only 15 minutes late. So in my mind I had 40 minutes to reach a venue somewhere in Arras. As the homepage of mainsquare couldn’t load the map I just kept following all the people, who were very relaxed. Just outside of the venue I saw the first parking signs with OR and VIP. Until then no signage at all to the venue or the parking. The parking wardens (scouts) tried to be helpful, but had no clue on how to organise the traffic. As I didn’t hear any music being played I was happy that Prince wasn’t already on stage. To cut it short I made the golden circle at 20:45. When I thought LG GCS was finally over at 21.15 the band itself made the crowd sheer to come out for another song. Could have been that people were still making their way to the venue. If you ever heard about a bottleneck problem, that's waht it was! So I went to get some meal/drink tickets during Larrys final song and made myself comfortable in front of the stage. The GC was anything but crowded, so I had enough space to dance. Later I found out that the 17:00 on the website indicated doors open! Funny thing is, some people around me were not happy having me sing along – it was ruining their iPhone recording. What a lot of bs. If the majority of the audience keeps recording and taking pictures instead of participating in chants, dances or clapping the atmosphere really does lack soul. All these technical devices ruin the experience. Do people really think they can re-live the moment while watching a snippet of a song on a 3,5” screen and missing the real show? Give me a break. I thought Prince had a good time on stage in spite of the French technicians not hearing the difference between “on” and “off”. I don’t know how many times P asked to have the lights turned off. But instead of loosing his temper over it he patiently repeated the instructions and kept playing. Personaly I enjoyed this show much more than the two O2 shows I attended. Maybe I was unlucky in London, but he made up for it in Arras. Reading all these reports from Berlin and Vienna show what an exceptional artist he is with something different to offer at all the shows - unfortunately with hardly any recognition by the press to spread the word. Looking at the way the whole tour was put together makes you wonder, if anyone of his team had ever heard the word “marketing”. If it had been advertised better and if the dates had been publicised together and if and if and if … I am still surprised about the audience numbers he draws though for such a badly advertised campaign. 15.000 in Berlin with two newspaper ads and ticket prices above 100 EUR, allegedly 20.000 in Arras, 35.000 in Werchter, 12.000 in Vienna. He may not draw the numbers of the O2, but those were misleading because of all the multiple ticket buyers. Maybe someone can help me with the folwing questions: Question 1: At which song did he ask the audience to clap upbeat? It sounded freaky, It took me quite a bit to get used to it, but once I did, it was funky – not because of me of course Question 2: From which song is the chant “Let go, let God”? Thanks!

Really like your review! I was stressing around Antwerp at that time as well. Only started relaxing when I heard Larry Graham was still playing when I was queueing. Organisation wise I thought Arras was not good enough. As you mentioned almost no signs to guide the way (didn't even see any at the train station where people kept directing us to). Luckily we could hitch a ride with a very helpfull local lady. Also thought that it was too difficult to get drink coupons. They should have added some booths especially with the heat.
Still the show made me forget about all that though. Had a great time standing at the back of the golden circle with a lot of friendly people standing around me enjoying the show as much as I did. (Little Richard enters the stage)

I've just got home, went to Amsterdam after Wherchter - W was the best show I've seen in 20 years.
However, Arras was the worst show in 20 years (so well over 100) - anyone down the front didn't see every other person standing there comatose with an iphone doing recordings.
Prince played, he didn't perform.
And then the end he messes up Forever and loses it with incomplete senteces: "Let it (let it, what?) ? "Let God." (Let God, what?)
An abismal show, abismal promoting.
And the French - poor laissez faire, talking turning their backs need I go on.
And thanks to being exited out of a different gate we couldn't find our way to the train station and many many people were left stranted. Life is perfect when you are content with being

Hi, guys! Arras was my FIRST Prince concert, therefore can not compare. The organisations was terrible, we had to wait for another 1.5 after the doors were opened at around 17:00. Water was a treasure. The security did not let water it. Those luchky to be in the first raws of Golden Circle could get bottles filled in by security from time to time. In the heat of over 30 C some people were fainting. In short, it was exhausting to wait for all this time to see P perform. He appeared o stage after 9:30. But it was worth it! Loved it, loved it! Loved Prince talking to people. Loved him smiling, dancing! And as I was just in the second raw of Golden Circle (center right), I was able to see every detail !!!! Great experience. Prince even went to the first raw to touch our hands!!!! And then threw his towel on us, the guy next to me caught it:) A bit dissapointed with the set list, but, c mon, it s big gig, he needed to satisfy everybodys tastes. Will love to see him again!!!Cant wait! here is where we were standing: maybe some one recognises himself:) http://www.youtube.com/wa...tF55nGysmE [Edited 7/16/10 3:24am]

and hence i won't ever see him again cause SURPRISE i want a show based on his latest material ..not the same set of songs i have heard since i 1st saw him 1986 ..so is it really fair that people get jumped on cause they do want 2 see soemthing new and people like u only want the same old same old?
prince has lacked a crucial skill 4 the longest time ..MARKETING ..a new album and a "tour" named after the latest project SHOULD focus on that material plain and simple
if prince didn't want to record new music then he wouldn't at all and just keep doing the same songs and become a greatest hits artist ..pretty much what's he's doing anyway so y the new music? why the hype?
nude tour -greatest hits hit n run tour 2000- greatest hits musicology tour -greatest hits o2 arena- greatest hits 20ten-greatest hits
how many more will there be?
so go spam me, call me a hater but whenevr FACTS are told ..there are some that don't wanna hear it
amazing huh? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Not disputing you here, but you have to put this into context...
1990 - Nude 1992 - Diamonds & Pearls tour 1993 - Act I & II - tour 1996 - Gold Experience tour 1998 - Emancipation/Love 4 One Another/New Power Soul tour (date maybe wrong) 2000 - Hit N Run tour 2002 - Rainbow Children/One Nite Alone tour 2004 - Musicology - did include one or 2 off Musicology 2007 - O2 Earth tour - various PE songs came up 2010 - do you really want a complete 20Ten tour?
We ain't from Hollywood, so you know it's all good

For me, It was awesome, For some reasons.., I wasn't about to attend Arras's concert, then, when I decided to eventually pay my ticket into the Gold square, friends decided to offer the ticket for my birthday I received the ticket on the 9th, and drove with colleagues from job to Arras.. It was cloudy around 5pm, then little by all the clouds vanished. We entered the line, first we thought it'd be faster for "us" gold Square, but we needed to queue as all who were entering into the citadelle.. Ouf!! fortuneately, we arrived and got in front, 10 meters approximately to to the front Suddenly, I recognized, we recognized each other a fan as well, Joel, who has attended a radio show with me years ago,( after the "Gold experience"..) To make it short.. When he arrived dressed in his 20 ten suit (which I'd like to get), it was a pure Craziness (la folie) The crowd became mad, yes, absolutely I can say that when he sang I was in "heaven" and he played as never before, for me, One of my Best concert. Prince just made me make up with him, I got reconciled, cause he was at his top..still the same He played really good, pure guitar, his voice funky as I like. He seemed happy also, cause some smiles he had can't hide a self satisfaction and I felt him really into the vibe.. At the end, around 23h40, I was on my way out and suddenly for my own surprise, I heard the sound coming from the stage, waouh : I reentered where the rest of the audience was and then I cried, I was shivering, cause he was back and: he sang "forever in my life" which i sang along and also "7", I cried and my heart was kind of suffering, can't explain, was chasing also, I can't describe, I really really want to : THANK YOU PRINCE, YOU MADE MY DAY AND NIGHT AND EVERY MOMENT YOU GAVE, EVERY SOUND AND WORD YOU GAVE WERE ALL PRECIOUS, UNFORGETTABLE AND GIFTS FOR ME THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING, LET LOVE LET GOD, TAKE GOOD CARE MERCI MERCI MERCI
We make our own way to heaven everyday

I was at this.
It started off great but after it while it started to become apparent that a LOT of people barely even knew 'the hits'. A song like Mountains was just unknown to most people there, mad.
anyway, it was very VERY good, Prince did seem to be very into it, the only reason he played Alphabet Street seemed to be because he was enjoying jamming with Larry so much. I will admit the rest of setlist was pretty perfunctory for most of it and I was pretty worried how early Disco Heat was played, thinking that was the whole show.
However, it picked up big time by the end and the final 2 encores seemed genuine encores from someone who didn't want to stop playing rather than simply part of the setlist.
Whether this still constitutes a terrible show by a terrible person who only cares about his terrible bank balance is up to you I guess...

arras was a fab concert! wonderful atmostphere..it was very hot, i messed up on my tickets & just got standard but still got a good view, the screens were nice, my binoculars better. the venue was historic & interesting, hot air balloons went overhead morris hayes mingled in the gold circle mint condition were a borefest, they can put a glass eye to sleep. larry graham was fantastic, never saw him live b4 & i NEVER thought i would think it but his bass is the bollox. his wife was there fanning away & he went into the crowd to jam & show off his skillz. prince looked totally gorgeous, he smiled a lot, bounced about dancing, he went down to the crowd & high 5'd.. he did some dad dancing with the promoter, making him dance alone, having LOTS of fun. I went to the werchter show as well & i would say between the 2 shows he seemed even more relaxed at arras.. prince did the hits & he did them well, people all around having fun, smiling dancing sox off & churning up da cobbles! no new song but chanting only to 'everybody loves me' & 'hot summer'. party in full flow, seemed 2 go on 4ever.. encores! i was on my way out when he decided to belt out forever in my life, i swear he was having a problem leaving the stage that night.. it was very cool
arras itself is not set up for gigs like this.. the venue very badly organised, lots of queuing in unbearable heat, about 4 security on the gates only interested in bottle tops..then when inside queuing 4 tokens & drinks..wtf! buses & car parks not available after 8pm..wtf! (affordable) hotels not within walking no taxis! wtf.. i eventually flagged one at 2am with many more purple people waiting. was big hassle but the music & prince cuteness far outweighed that shit. that night i was one satisfied woman!
btw, thanks for posting the beautiful photos on this thread! i took some pix, most blurred but couple will do.. nowhere near same pengness as these here already, but will post later
