U2 pull out of Glastonbury. Will Prince take thier place? There have been rumours abound over the last couple of years about the small purple fella headlining.
Is this the opportunity Glasto' fans have been waiting for? He's in Europe He is doing festivals thoughts?

I don't see why this thread should be locked.
It's a valid point, i mean SOMEONE will have to replace U2 and be bold and brave enough to do so. I think Prince does indeed fit the bill, plus with Stevie Wonder and George Clinton there this year, that could give him the impetus to appear (that and a big fat paycheck no doubt!). O+> O+>

O+> it should be a easy deal to close with Stevie and George playing for sure Eye Was Born & Raised On The Same Plantation In The United States Of The Red, White And Blue Eye Never Knew That Eye Was Different Til Dr. King Was On The Balcony

I have tickets and have been telling myself all day to not even bother dreaming about this happening but maybe just maybe.....!
I think the two big stumbling blocks would be: 1) Money- Glastonbury doesn't pay as much as other big festivals and most artists do it more for the prestige and exposure. 2) TV Rights- Can't see Prince giving this up easily. The BBC have the rights to coverage and although some artists have requested their sets not to be shown on TV in the past (Leonard Cohen) I can't see the BBC being happy at not being able to show a headliner. Having said that, Prince if you do by some miracle happen to visit this site Please Please do it!!!

Excellent points Funkypixie.
And it's now been announced that Gorillaz will be replacing U2 so the speculation is over. I'm personally very pleased with this new development, I love the new Gorillaz album, it's a real grower. O+> O+>

I'm going to Glastonbury so I'm gutted its now the Gorillaz. I like their stuff, but they are hadly feastive headline material yet.
U2 have had more number one albums than the Gorillaz have had top 40 singles! It will be a nightmare on the Firday night now. The Pyramid stage no longer has a big draw, and the smaller stages will be swamped. Dizzee Rascal followed by the Gorillaz won't pull in half of what U2 could. And I can't even get a refund. Gutted. .

Gorillaz are at least a bit more innovative than our little Prince these days...
