Or you could take the Eurostar to Lille and then take a local train to Arras (only 50km from Lille).

Hi Christine. I might be. It depends on whether I drive or take the train, and whether I stay over one night or come back in the early hours!

Looking in to it now.

Hi Christ8ine

You'd be welcome to join up with me and my friend laura. We're in Brighton, still not decided yet how we're getting there / accomodation arrangements.

Having struck out on Gold Circle ticket, I would willingly chauffer from London to Arras, and back the same night for ticket and parking space!

Well, I suppose I might as well try my luck and ask here. I live in Oxford, and taking the train from London to Arras would cost me more than the price of my gold circle ticket. For a 3-4 hour ride that seems a bit much.

Is there anyone willing to offer me a ride? gas money contribution included, of course.

I don't actually know how cars work, so it could be anything as far as I'm concerned. Just as long as I find one to get me there for less than that Eurostar ticket.

OK, I think the time has come to take the risk and book something.

I live in Cambridgeshire and I'm going to drive, taking the eurotunnel. I'm going for an "in and out" approach!

I'm going to work on the Fri morning and taking the afternoon off. I intend getting to the tunnel about 3pm, so I hope to be in Arras about 17.30- 18.00pm. Park up, walk in to gold circle, leave straight after and get either the 00.23 or the 01.48 train back, depending on when the show finishes. It means I'll be back in the UK approx 23.50pm or 1.20am, taking time changes into consideration.

I'm really keen to try and get the 00.23 back, as it will mean being back in the UK before midnight (taking an hour off french time) and a fairly reasonable bed time! To get it, I need to be at the tunnel for 23.50. This might be a stretch, but it depends when the show finishes. If it finishes at 22.30, then hopefully their won't be a problem. If it finishes at 23.00, then it very tight. So depending on the set list (which we'll know, roughly, from Berlin), and how the car park is arranged, I might leave in the last encore to get out.

I could possibly tie up with someone who wants to share costs, but it would need to be somewhere on the M20 corridor.

Thanks for replying. Maybe someone else is willing to join you - to me this sounds a bit too tight. I would like to get to Arras earlier (perhaps catch a spot closer to the stage) and I wouldn't consider leaving anytime before the end of the encore (if there is one).

Anyone else driving on that day?

Arriving, I'm happy to turn up between 5 and 8. I'm done with scrambling to be at the front of the gold circle, and I'm in no rush to the see the very very average Mint Condition and Larry Graham. If Jamie Liddel joins from the Belguim show, then that would be worth getting there for.

In fact, it will be nice to simply arrive, soak up the outside for an hour or so and leisurely wonder into the gold circle rear, ready and fresh to funk!

I think it was wishful thinking that I would get the 00:23 train back, so I'm booking the 1:46. But its flexible, so I can go on any through the night.

I really don't think their will be an aftershow, being a more remote location, and with the kit needed 100 miles away for a show the next day, I think it will be an early night for our favourite 53 year old. I think P will be driven or flown straight out after the show to Brussels or Paris. I think an aftershow in Brussels on the 10th has a much better chance of happening.

Besides, I'm filming the next day, so I need to get back! biggrin

Hey Sqirrelmeat.

Yeah I definitley think you should hold out til later. As for aftershows I tend to agree - although I don't think the kit being needing to be shifted is an issue - whenever I've been at aftershows they're using a different rig entirely.

Hmm.... not sure.

Arriving at 5 or 8 is fine coz theres no need really to be there all day unless u wanna look around. I will probably get there for the afternoon look around the area a bit, check out the queue situation and take it from there. I'm not in any rush to see the support acts either.

Didn't realise theres was trains during the night? if thats the case now i may not stay until the next day and just get a flexi ticket.

Ur right there probably won't be an aftershow coz of the area its in. Btw Prince is 52 biggrin

Yeah still gotta try and book saturday day off, work is already moaning about me wanting 3 days off in the same week coz i want thursday off aswell! lol
