Thanx from Love 4 One Another Bravo from the Love 4 One Another crew 2 all who donated items 2 the pre-show food and coat drive. Some of u gave the coats off ur backs, and others brought in new items still bearing tags. Still others brought entire cases of food or water. Big ups 4 all ur support, especially considering some of u had 2 carry the goods on the shuttle bus. Ur generosity was even greater than anticipated and will b much appreciated by all the recipients around the Twin Cities.
peace and blessings. | |

It's wonderful to know that people are so generous in giving to others who are in need of food, water, and warm coats. I'm sure that whoever will receive the items will be grateful for this generosity. No matter your age, pursue your dreams so that you will LIVE.

It was my pleasure to donate.
And thanks to all the security, admission and L4OA folks who manned the gates last night. You all were so patient, professional and kind (thanks for letting me stand under your heater while I waited for some folks to arrive), it only added to my enjoyment of the evening. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I thought the charity compliment to the show was an excellent idea! I enjoy giving when its a good cause, so thanks to Love4OneAnother for the brilliant opportunity.

I'm glad folks did a good job with the donations!
To NPGRecords, I think some of us would be willing to make monetary donations also. Is L4OA set up to accept checks and if so, where should we send them?

Do you think all the cans of food and clothes added up to the price of the "Prince Opus"?
Well done to anyone who brought stuff in, not disrespecting you at all. My point is more aimed at the different sets of values that our little purple hero has these days. Release something worthwhile for charity for gawds sake. Don't charge for a gig and ask your fans to bring in free stuff to help. If all the proceeds from the vulgarity that is the Prince Opus were going to charity, there would not be a single complaint about it. Well apart from the alligator skin. oh, and the crap photoshopped pics, oh and the lack of actual tour material in a tour book. Hey this is just MHO before you all jump on me. [Edited 10/26/09 13:02pm] Oh Rory, I thought it was nice that they asked fans to contribute to a charity that would help those in need in Minny. It's not as though fans were forced to do it. It was also nice that he did a concert for fans at Paisley Park, as many fans were hoping for a long time that he would, and their wish came true. I've never been to Paisley Park, but who knows, maybe one day I may decide to go, should future events there happen. Nice to know those who were able to go had a good time as well. Such joy was found through this knowing that it was in support of L4OA, Prince, and keeping someone warm. It's tough being young and not having money or the resources to get a coat...moreover, a nice coat that a child will want to wear and feel a positive image about his or herself is 1derful. Thank U for this opportunity to show the love. ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

I guess I just question his actions these days as he seems completely obsessed with the $. Just wish he would do something on a larger scale which showed real charity, ie coming from his own pocket, not from his generous fans. Listen all charity is good charity if people are benefiting from it. Don't want to seem like scrooge but the opus thing early in the year was vulgar almost in biblical terms, so I find this a little harder to be positive about. but u are right, it was good because of the fans. Peace Prince does a lot for charity, without publicity surrounding it. As for the Opus deal, so a company offers him a bunch of money to make a collectible item and there's something wrong with that? That company has done high priced packages for other artists also. Am I going to pay that much for it? No, but someone will, just like people spend ungodly amounts on bling, art, cars, etc.. But I do know I'd rather spend $2k for this than $12k or whatever it was for Elvis's hair.

Wow. Some people really have no manners. I wonder how they'd like it if they invited people over to their place and their guests threw their trash in the lawn? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

sweething said: dayzofwyld said: But would you have donated something if Prince hadn't asked you? Let me rephrase my statement; personally I probably would not have donated to that particular charity on a whim as there are others closer to home. However, charitable giving -- yes -- something I do year-round in various ways to various causes. I got excited and had a great time shopping for those things, in fact I had to limit myself. The act of giving makes me happy (when I have the means) it feels good especially when I know someone is going to benefit and be happy too. This was fun because I could buy cute stuff for little ones who might not have the things they should. Lastly, I trust that Prince's charity will give the items to the ones that need it and that is important to me when participating.
