Well, i was just on Champs-Élysées...have no clue as to what is going on at Grand Palais goddamit (thanks for the heads up, lotusflower great waste of 77 bucks), but there's much excitement on the avenue! horns honking, people going wild...I think it's a soccer thing.

the monaco shows were filmed too, plus the same songs were performed,
well not all but a lot.

if this is being filmed too, i still have hopes that perhaps, by the
end of the year we will get some of this stuff on lotusflower.

i mean, a full concert, not just 1 or 2 clips.

but knowing prince, it will probably used as teasers to sucker us into
signing up for year 2.

lol

I would be a little disappointed to here so many of the same songs in one evening, even if they are great songs. I guess we were lucky at the LA shows in March.

He DID do a (more or less) full version of All Day All Night at some point, it was not just chants.

I don't think it was filmed at all. There were no screens, I think. I was in the 2nd row, so close -yeahii! - maybe I missed them but I didn't see screens or any cameras.
Mountains was incredible! Also big party time towards the end of the main set (before the encores) when lots of dancers came on stage out of the audience! Often there can be no interaction with him and these people who get to go up, but not tonight! He even made a whole group sing "Play That funky Music, white boy" (to their credit, they knew all the words) and he made a huge face at us, the audience below, to signify how taken aback he was at how well they were doing! Then at the end, one girl grabbed his face and gave him a huge smackeroni (i.e. kiss!) on the cheek! Again, he made a face with huge eyes! I lauhed me head off!
He was very very smiley all throughout - in a hugely good mood! We all got loads of smiles at the front. At the end, he actually threw his guitar to us!!! I touched his guitar! *swoon* He made out like he was going to throw it and I thought he's just pretending... We all streched our arms out and then he called out "you gotta catch it!" (no mike, we were so close, we could hear him) and I screamed, we'll catch it, we'll catch it!!! and then he actually threw it! I still can't believe it. I think it was only the first 2 or 3 rows or so that got to catch it.

The set list sid include a LOT of hits, I must say, and fewer special songs than say Montreux (last gig I went to) - also the arrangements were not that different to what we heard in London during the 21 Nites (again, unlike Montreux where Little Red Corvette for example turned out to be a total surprise version - as you all know). I must say, as predicted by some orgers, the sound was pretty crap. I could only really hear Prince's voice and guitar reasonably clearly, the rest of the band was like a smoothy - very pleasant to saviour but impossible to say what ingredients exactly had gone into the mix...
Still, it seemed to me that almost the entire hall knew all the lyrics to all the hits and as people practically sang them all for him, he seemed so pleased to get such a strong reaction. I think it was I Feel 4 U were he sang almost none of the words himself, he actually went to the back of the stage and the audience sang it for him. Again, he was smiling a lot, each time the hall erupted...

So did he play an encore of Dance 4 Me and No Candy 4 U ?

I read in an earlier thread he did but I am confused as now its not mentioned..

Also no one has said what the sound quality was like in the room, apparently the room had a lot of echo..

He didn't talk that much (and he certainly didn't talk any French - someone asked to post whether he did or not) but he did play with the audience a lot. Like he would have half the hall chant "All Day" and the other half "All Night". And at one point, half were supposed to chant Freaks are on this side, and the other half were doing "Paaaarty!!!" (needless to say, we Paaarty people drowned out the Freaks, lol). He only really does "split chants" if the audience is really good and up for it.
It was certainly an amazing party.
There were 3 encores. all jams of several songs. I can't recall them etirely or their order but Purple Rain was the first of the first encore. The 2nd or 3rd encore (sorry!) started with Shelby J doing Honly Tonk Woman and he joined later with All The Critics and then also Love Bizarre. Both were awesome versions.

During the main set, to hear Sometimes It Snows ... only with his guitar was really special.
The party-time end of the main set with all the dancers on stage was a long jam that ended with Long Train Running which Shelby did full justice to. Before that, there was also Everyday People and Higher in there. as well as Miss You and, as I said, Play That Funky Music.

It's nice to know the is more relaxed and sharing so much of his self with the fans more. He sounds like he had an exciting time as well. Mr. P ur the best I don't care what they might say!!!!!

man...prince has the life now!!

i bet he just sits down with Bria and a map and asks her where she wants to go

then he goes there and thinks 'hey, i can play a gig and make some money'

then he calls up the band and they fly there to meet him

u know how many artists would give their left arm to have that kinda life?

Prince can't give his left arm or he couldn't play guitar!

He didnt play Girl at the 10pm show; it was `all day all night` accoustic. The 1 u wanna c wac accoustic as well. And there was the Jackson/Everyday people/Play that funky music part as at 5pm, with some people from the crowd singing which got Prince to make a funny face. When they left the stage they kissed him and he laughed and said `What a world`, shaking his head.

Great show, great lights,`and P in very good mood. At the beginning of Purple Rain he said; `I love this song`.

Shelby did `Without Love` as well somewhere during the show. Kiss was also played as an encore if I remeber correctly.

Bria was a spectator at the same spot as at 5pm.
