Rumours about a lot of Paris shows

I was talking to another fan in the crowd yesterday at the 5pm show, and he told me about rumours he heard that Prince was going to do like 30 concerts in Paris...

second clue I got was when the guy from Grand Palais welcoming everybody and asking (multiple times) NOT to take any pictures, because if 'the artist' saw anyone taking pictures, he would stop playing. Then he said something like: let's listen with our ears and hearts and if we have a beautifull night, we might have a lot more nights like this....

what do you guys make of this? Has anyone heard more about this?

Would be great! I live 400 km's from paris and would love to see him on a regular basis biggrin

I heard that if Prince liked this stage he would give 8 more shows.
I was only at first gig.... i can't believe he is playing multiple gigs there.
The first show he had to make and order several time to adjust sound of then microphone of his then drums, etc, etc. He also said at 2nd number somthing like let's make a soundcheck of this.
I will go and see Prince if he will perform more this months, but not at the Grand Palais. Don't get me wrong i had a good time but sound was not very good.
Hope i get some boots of this in a short while.

I agree, the sound wasn't great, that's why I positioned myself directly in front of the right speakers, so I would at least be spared from the echoes and stuff a hall like that would produce, but still, wasn't great. I am SO glad I didn't pay 150 euros for the seats in the back with even crappier sound.

Greatest thing would be if he would play in a different location in Paris every concert, so we would get big party concerts like yesterday, and a week later a smaller, maybe more jazzy set, another week later in some nice 50's style place big funk set with all the trumpets, saxes,...

Duccer is looking for a room in Paris biggrin (j/k)

Oh, I can't understand P.
Why is it so evil to take photos?
Somebody said at an aftershowparty at the Indigo someone took a picture
and that's why Prince broke up the show. But that's not right. He didn't broke up because of THAT!
At the whole evening people was taking pictures and then suddenly this one
man should be the factor why he ended up playing? No way.
I guess I know why he broke up, but whatever...

Damn I can remember Nikka Costa's face. She was so disappointed and totally horrified that he just went away and didn't get back to play.

Isn't there suppossed to be a press conference today? I'm still not sure whether this is confirmed or just a rumour. There either is or isn't one surely?!
If there is, then we can be sure its to announce more shows. Man, I hope so. Please though, book appropriate venues to hear them in! smile

I was at that show. That was the 4th August aftershow, wasn't it?

Anyway, a residency in Paris would be cooler than cool. Just hope it doesnt start before I get back from the US at the beginning of November lol.

Do you know if he was at the 3th in the Indigo?

I dunno what happened, evidently he wasn't in the mood. I didn't mind though, because on the 14th, he played a 3 hour aftershow, just absolutely killed it, and I got to meet him briefly afterwards as well smile

He sounds happy.

I advise every artist to go through it if they can. The cream rises to the top anyway. A real free music doesn’t mean that you don’t pay for it, it just means there are no authoritarian figures telling you what you’re supposed to do with it."

Which options? eek

Nice press conference but very frustrating. Why did nobody ask the obvious question? Will you be doing more shows?!! I mean, come on! isn't that what we want to know more than anything right now. I live in London and I'm sure I'm not alone in needing more than a couple of days notice in getting over there.

Looks like there won't be any more shows in Paris right now. Apparently, they've all gone back to US.

I'm not so sure about that. At the beginning of the press conference he did say that they were looking at options and it was still in the planning stages but he definetely sounded as though they were scouting locations.

Later, in the NRJ interview he talked about the Opera house en how he liked small venues...

I wouldn't despair yet....

Did Prince and the band leave Paris for the US or was it just Shelby Johnson that left and can we book our train tickets for the weekend?

That's the question right now. I can't score any source saying wether Prince left Paris already or not. I suppose nothing is currently going on, but I am still ready to catch a train in a heartbeat if some reliable rumour pop up this morning. Jeez...

Shelby's back home. I guess the other band members are too.

I don't know about Prince though. Perhaps he's house hunting ?
I do wish he'd get an apartment in Paris again.

And don't nobody dare go singing in the middle of the night !!!
