At the end of the second show in Montreux the organizer, Claude Nobs, came onto the stage to reflect on this years festival and show the poster for next year.
He said, amongst other things, he was a bit emotional about Prince choosing to play Montreux, as he was told that Prince would play no other shows this year.
Maybe somebody already reported this, but I didn't see it in the reports I read.

maybe the break will do him some good - realize the fans he continually disappoints are the reason he's had success in the first place.

maybe put that guitar-heavy album out that he always talks about, rather than 3 albums of re-fried, tired-sounding garbage.

maybe realize Bria's just awful and go back and spend some time with Tamar - the only protege he;s ever had who had any chops (IMO)

maybe do a tour for the fans - the set lists at the Montreaux shows looked promising.Bust out some treasures from Parade, ATWIAD and some lost SOTT jams, that would get people's attention.

Looks like he just got bored when it didn't work and didn't bother thinking about it any more. In any other normal consumer situation a refund would be automatic. For some reason no-one thinks they have any rights when it comes to this stuff, maybe 'cos he's fucked paying fans over this exact same way before and got away with it.
I'm embarrassed for him and his obvious greed and lack of respect for his fans. I'm on a few fansites and I've never seen anything like it. You would nevvver get it from Madonna, she sends out presents for godsake and continually thanks her fans for putting her where she is and I've taken advantage of fabulous fanclub concert seats a pile of times from her fanclub! And REM send collectors items to fans on their birthday. Not really a big deal, just a sign of respect.
I think Prince has turned into a bit of a joke. Yes, he can entertain (when he's not racing from venue to venue to rake in more cash for one night and blaming the promoters when the show is shit), but it's not professional to set something up really badly, charge a shitload of money and then just forget about it.
Doesn't he even care what his peers and fellow artists think of him?

I called the Nîmes townhouse today. They said it is still a rumor but they did not deny the information either.They said that if the concert was to be confirmed,the tickets would be sold by the Fnac and that the information would be on their website. SO, dare we hope ?
