Ol'skool fans opinion on ONA? Sorry if this an already discussed to death topic...
I'm interested in what other ol'skool fans (fans who were lucky/old enough to see him in the 80's) thought of the recent tour. We think it's one of the best tours ever, having seen him live on every tour from Parade onwards... Prince was thought to be losing it (post-Gold) and as a result die-hards were losing interest (the ones I know, at least). So this tour is generally thought to be a real return to form. Do other ol' skool fans think so too? Thanks to soulpower and ml3..something for posting the tour rumours some months ago, it helped me to plan in advance for the tour, much appreciated.

Thanks to them both from me too ... "ONA" was Prince's best ever tour. I've seen every tour since "SOTT". These were really very special indeed.

I've seen Lovesexy onwards and think exactly the same as you Veej. Post Gold, gawd knows what happened. I don't rate much after it.. but now... blow me down sugar! It's all dayum good!

Been 2 the concerts since Parade.
This ONA-tour surely could compete with SOTT, which is the best ever. Back then God-like playing of God-like music, best show ever and good partying. Now God-like playing of good music and the best party ever (at least 2nd night Rotterdam, 1st night was less).

Saw him since the Parade tour in 1986 in Paris and yes the ONA tour ranks with the very best Prince tours (Parade and SOTT).
BTW Lovesexy remains the most overrated Prince tour for me.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I agree with most of what's been said on this post, ONA is one of his best tours of all time. But don't forget here in Europe we got to see some amazing performances in 1995 and 1998. Top of my head... London Emporium'95, Marbella'98, Vega'98, Brussels'95... The Hit+Run tour wasn't that fine, probably -as most of his '99 performances (Madrid, Paris, MPLS...). But in my opinion Prince always been a master on stage. Some of his late 90's productions (Rave, Newpower Soul...) weren't excellent, but when it comes down to play live... no matter what, you are in for a treat.

certainly is good that now he's playoing most of the songs in full, I was really bored with those medley setlists...in fact the only thing that I didn't liked in theONA tour were the piano segments, really pointless cheers

I think a lot of that has to do with the drummer. Kirk was not funky like John B, Mike B, Bobby, or Sheila.
