...and you wonder why your experience was so much better than others? All I ask is to allowed to be seated before the show starts. Is that too much? Especially considering "VIPS" get let in waaaaay before the show started. What kind of bs is that? There was NO good reason to keep us all standing in line outdoors while the theater sat empty. Utter BS.

Responses you will get from the org

1) Quit yer complainin! Translation: you paid 100.00 to see the purple one. It's worth it because it helps pay for his expenses to the Lotus experience (OOoooo the Lotus! )

2) I had a great time, I don't know what your complaining about Translation: I like watching lounge by the numbers covers that lack serious energy and I enjoyed my evening & will never admit I got ripped off.

3) It was the venue's fault not Princes! Translation: I will never admit that prince is an ass to venue's regarding Sound & most people just end up not messing with him.

4) Piss off! Prince doesnt owe you nothing Translation: I am unable to criticially think at anything . I get angry if it's not a positive comment about Prince. I have emotional issues & my parents dropped me on my head alot

5) Well, it was an aftershow and that requires jamming, you should be happy you paid 100 dollars. Translation: I am absolutely clueless what to say but I thought I would add my 2 cents.

I totally agree!!! My feet were sore but Prince was worth it! I would've stood out there way longer to see him perform in that intimate Club Nokia setting! biggrin
U know, U know what shoes 2 wear... The 1's so high UR scared!!!

We weren't let in to the "Midnight" show until 1:15pm...when we enter the place, Prince is already playing. When we ask how long he'd been playing we're told 3-4 minutes. (Can anyone confirm this?)

Then the band jams some slow jazz while Prince is backstage. He finally comes out and does a few tunes, and then it's over. 1 hour and 10 minutes. Most of which the man was absent. For this I pay $100?

This is the first concert I've ever been to that was so lame everyone leaving was bitching. EVERYONE was pissed.

WTF?

Where I totally feel for your situation, I am pretty sure you do not need to blame the "Little Midget" for that.
You should blame the folks at the club that did not have a clue what they were doing when they were seating folks. There should be a designated area in there for that very issue!
But, it was the midgets fault?

this person has been complaining about the same thing for a couple year on this board. I see he is still obsessed with the issue, even though almost all the events I've been to i saw them make special accomodations, and I also thought you are supposed to contact the venue yourself to make arrangements or to verify the setup.

Personally, I was at all three shows and I loved each one for what they represented both individually and collectively. Yes, it sucked that we were made to wait so long before entering. However, as been said before, this was NOT a show for the hits. Many people that were griping expected to hear Purple Rain or Kiss but for true fans, it's obvious that a Midnight show had jam session written all over it. Also, as others have stated, the band lineup dictated that you'd get a more jazzy, laid back mix of songs to end a pretty explosive night. I ABSOLUTELY loved being able to hear him perform such rare gems as "When I lay my hands on u," "Insatiable," "Scandalous," "The Beautiful Ones" etc. The band was also very good. I think the arrangements were nice as well.

well, I wasn't there - so I'm not one to critique but this appears to me to be at least the 2nd best show of the 3 (best IMHO would be the Conga room - "NPG Trio" v2)

now as Prince wasn't on stage all through the show, yeah thats disappointing - but there is some classic (and also officially yet to be released - I hope) greats there.....In a Large Room With No Light and When the Lights Go Down LIVE - that's worth the entry by itself LOL

sorry, but if this didn't float your boat, thats unfortunate - but what were you expecting - and why so? Prince has played the hits 'for the last time' for so bloody long I, for one, am glad he's finally playing something different!

Prince can't keep us all happy at the same time..accept that and move on - he's not a jukebox and I know of several people who have been absolutely thrilled by todays shows including this one!!

Prince's output is varied - u could have guessed somewhere in the 3 shows there'd be some jazz....my bet was it'd be the last show....I'm not really taken by too much 'jazz' either personally - but looking at that setlist - was it really that bad?

or was it more that the sound was that bad? shame if the sound wasn't good - cos teh show 'reads' very well - which I haven't been able to say for the last few years LOL - they've all been pretty much the same shows for at least the last 5 years....

The sound issues were irritating, but not enough to derail a FABULOUS show! For me, a longtime fan who has now seen Prince 21 times, this show (really, the entire night) was one of the best Prince experiences that I have ever had. One night with three shows with three bands and three different musical vibes was wonderful and unprecedented. There is no other artist who could pull off what P did, the way he did!

That said, I was so blown away with the song selections and arrangements for the Conga Room and Club Nokia shows, that I could pretty much ignore the sound issues. This thread is about Club Nokia, so I will focus on that.

I never in a million years expected to hear "In A Large Room With No Lights!" That was unreal. eek Also, "When I Lay My Hands On You," "When The Lights Go Down," that superb arrangment of "The Sun, The Moon and Stars," Rhonda's bass on "She Spoke 2 Me," Chaka's vocals in top form on "Sweet Thang," and those smoldering full renditions of "Insatiable," "Scandalous" and "Beautiful Ones" with Prince's voice as lush as ever at 2 a.m. put this show in another league of Prince performances. I LOVED IT!! biggrin

Regarding the show's length, the promo for these shows said that each show would be 90 minutes, and all of them came in near that time. Club Nokia started about 1:00 a.m. and ended a couple minutes before 2:30 a.m.

2. HE PLAYED IN A LARGE ROOM WITH NO LIGHT.

3. CHAKA!!!

4. Full version of BEAUTIFUL ONES complete with the screams and "do you want him or do you want me" parts in it.

not much can top this show, IMO. People will whine about anything. go see the stones do their same lame show over and over then.

The discrimination against the disabled by ticketbastard is worse than ever, and Prince is in bed with those fuckers! I'd like to see you go to a Prince concert in a wheelchair and see how you get treated Wonder!

Prince doesn't have to allow these violations of our civil rights by ticketbastard, I've seen Crosby Stills and Nash many times and was never violated with my seating at their shows! Prince's designated area for wheelchairs is in the back of each section, therefore violating our civil rights, as demonstrated by ticketbastards seating charts for Prince's concerts! I know the laws, go check it out if you don't believe me.

I got tickets through Ticketmaster for the Club Nokia show and was let in at exactly 1am.

I was informed by security that fan club members had a special line, so it was a crapshoot.

The band Prince played with at Club Nokia was incredible. It was short, sweet, but Prince was pissed, and that was why the show was short from what I could tell. The show COULD have been a classic, but Prince's vocals were in RARE form.

The Conga Room show was the shee-it, and worth the trip for me.

I take it you have not been to many of his concerts, Prince does take breaks between the sets. If you did miss the instrumental part of the first show, it wasn't much and after that were the goodies to the show anyway.

There were two girls I shared a cab ride with back to the hotel who also did not like the show and I was too tired to hear a rant so I did not even ask why.

I have to say for the last show, if you were expecting to hear some of his chart topping hits you were at the wrong show (you should have gone to the first show), I specifically liked the last show because it covered material he does not usually do.

If any of you guys are angry because of sound, you should direct your anger to Randy Phillips who is CEO of AEG, Prince tried his best but he cannot control the sound at the venues.

It was an intimate setting. The music was mellow and jazzy and none of the shows were the same the entire night. I loved the second and third shows the best. I can understand why some were disappointed but I don't think they understand what Prince was trying to do by in each show. Imagine if he did the same songs for all three performances then people would really be disappointed.
