Did this happen to anybody else????[fan club tix vs. ticketmaster tix]

I really wasted my 77$ fee for the club. I bought through ticketmaster the day it went on sale. Got a row Q in ORCH first then was able to buy row G ORCH later.
Found out on Monday I could join Prince's new club and purchase tickets for all of the show dates. From my previous experience with the NPG club, I assumed I would be able to buy the 'good' seats. So, that Teusday evening, after much trouble trying to join (who knew BEFOREHAND that the site only worked with certain browsers???), I was able to buy a theatre ticket. I didn't find out til Saturday when I picked up my ticket where my seat would be. My fan club ticket was WORSE than my ticketmaster ticket! ORCH row X! wtf, that was no where near the front! I assumed the club had the good sections, PIT and ORCH first couple of rows, on lock. How the hell can some get pit tickets and I end up half way to the back?
And why come the site mentioned NOTHING about a special armband for early entry to Nokia club? I had bought through ticketmaster for that as well but didn't bother to buy another ticket through the fan club cuz there was no mention of a special privilege. Ugh.

I've been robbed. mad

That's unfair; the OP has a right to be upset with how his/her situation went down, IMO.

People were buying Pit tickets approximately an hour before showtime from the Nokia box office. I bought my ticket in center section row H also from the box office at that time. There have been reports from others who paid for website membership that their expectations also were not met.

If I paid for a membership and got worse seats than someone walking up on the spot a few minutes prior without one, I might be upset also.

Ticketing is a capitalistic and political process. For us fans, it becomes an emotional process, especially for those of us without disposable income. For a little insight, take a read of this, by Trent Reznor of NIN: http://forum.nin.com/bb/r...p?9,548515

I went back and re-read the original post...I missed the part about having purchased Row G tickets through Ticketmaster and then joining the club to try and do better. For such a high-profile show that was completely sold out, yes Row G would be considered a great seat and not something to complain about.

However, the point of my post stands. If one of the perks of the club was to have access to great seats...and then it doesn't work out as promised, then yes IMO the buyer has a right to be unhappy with his purchase. I would say the same thing no matter what was the item being purchased. There were other club members at Nokia who had issues, such as not getting into certain areas of the venue, having to wait while the performance had already begun, etc.

Lastly, I'm seeing a lot of posts here about "the real fans." Who gets to decide what constitutes a "real" fan from any other? Just because you may be willing to go through more BS or spend more money than the next person does not mean you're more of a fan than anyone else is. I've rolled with Prince since 1978 through it all but I don't throw that up as a badge of legitimacy when I write a post. Don't judge, don't assume.

I did NOT complain about my TICKETMASTER TICKET ROW G all the way by the wall!!! I knew it was pretty good having gotten it through ticketmaster. Mind you, I only bought ONE seat just because I wanted to sit close. That means I could NOT even sit with a friend for the show.
I aired my grievance about the ticket I bought through the club that I mistakenly assumed would give me access to closer seats as it had for previous shows where tickets were sold through his online club. So NO, I am NOT at all satisfied with having spent an EXTRA $77 for access to worse seats. Some of y'all members here may have beaucoup dollars but I do not. 'only an extra 77 dollars' my black ass. I would rather have fried my 77 and eaten it with a biscuit than throw it away.
When I spend money and I am not satisfied with that service or product as a consumer I have the RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. The subject of the topic started with 'did this happen to anybody else' not 'Do I have the right to complain'. Ima go back to lurkin' on this board in 5, 4, 3,....

I don't blame you, I'd be upset too. What's the point of joining if you can't get better seats through the fan club? Oh, and you aren't the only one. Someone posted they got Row Z through the FC. That's where I was sitting and I bought TM tickets.

I got all my show tickets through lotusflow3r.com. This is how the "benefits" broke down thru the night:

SHOW #1
All members were scattered throughout the PIT and the Orchestra. We did not know until we picked up our tickets where we would be (PIT or Orch). Looked like about 100-150 people made it into the pit. The rest of us were all over Orch; me and my friend were in row Z, another friend was in V, another in A. Me andmy friend were surrounded by all Ticketmaster people (I asked). So unlike the old club, they did not block off the first few rows for members. It's unclear whether this was intentional or accidental since public tix went on sale first? Whatever the case, it was definitely disappointing.

SHOW #2:
At will-call pickup, we had been given wristbands for this show. When we arrived at the Conga door after show #1, the line was pretty short but it was just one line (people had already been let in earlier). So we just got into the regular line and went in. Can anyone confirm if before the Conga opened, there was a member line, and/or that they were let in first?

SHOW #3:
Once again, we were give wristbands for this show at will-call. When we went to line up for this show, security made us show our wristband, then they let us line up. It was unclear whether that was just to confirm we had tickets or if the line was a members only line initially. Does anyone know which it was?

Where does it say on the site that members would get the best seats?

From what the bouncer told me, the gold wristband let the lotusflow3r members go right in ahead of the line. For Club Nokia, the line at the entrance was just gold wristband people. Others without the band had to wait.

I thought that was a nice touch. Some of us would have missed the beginning of the Nokia show if we weren't allowed to go to the front. Thanks Prince...

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.. (Voltaire)

In case my post was unclear, please understand that I agree with you. If I misunderstood the Row G thing, my apologies.

I got really good tix from lotusflow3r site, I guess it was the luck of the draw for some..

plus they didn't charge ticketmaster $30 extra fees.. I mean that's almost the price of the membership for two tix right there, so I'm happy...
