Anyone Traveling to L.A. on the 28th?

Hello all,

My sister and I did the math on a trip from Chicago to L.A. to see the shows and it's going to cost $1,622 ($811 a piece). This doesn't take into account meals or pre-travel expenses such as hair, clothes manis/pedis. Please help convince us that we aren't crazy for spending this much money in such economically horrific times!

japanrocks

no other artist gives me chills when i see them live

so i always forget about how much i am spending when the show starts

he is a living legend - and he still rocks

to me he is worth more than madonna, rolling stones, U2 and any other performer or group out there so $77 is a steal

hell, i would pay that just to see John Blackwell

you are not crazy

It's your money, of course. But he'll probably get a lot closer to Chicago in the next few months.

I have a frequent flier ticket I could use...and a place to stay (for free) in Orange County. It'd cost me next to nothing...and I'm going to hope and wait for something closer.

Of course, I spent around a grand to fly to Vegas for one show in 2006...so I'm not really one to talk. redface lol

That's not bad at all for two people. For my very first trip to Vegas to a Prince concert (at the Empire Club in Vegas) I spent around $2,100 altogether and have absolutely no regrets, and that was just on me alone. Point is, I had it to spend at that time, and made the choice of taking that trip and making a vacation out of it, as I knew I would have a great time, and I did. The cost of my trip included hotel for 4 nights/meals/airfare/concert tickets/shopping for some souvenirs/items for myself as well, and played a few slot machines in Vegas. That is the most I spent to travel to see a Prince show, but the other trips after, I spent less. That first time was a one-time only splurge event.

Anyway, everyone's financial situation is different, so if you have it to spend on something you like, and the cost of your trip will not hurt you during these hard economic times, then go for it and have a great time!

You're not crazy... he is worth every penny. There are fans who follow him around the world and have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars doing so, I would think that is crazy. A few thousands here and there if you can afford it is well worth it. wink

go to chicgo's chinatown and get a cheap mani-pedi. go to orbitz for the flight and hotel. you can do it for cheaper than 811 per person. i am taking an american airlines flight on thursday the 26th to see my boyfriend and that flight was only $289 with tax included. good luck!

Be careful about flying last minute from the UK. The whole US Visa Waiver programme and US Homeland Security has changed and now you have to fill out an online form and submit it at least 72 hrs before you're flight. Don't know if you're aware of this.

Hey thanks for the link! I'll check that out. Just by the grace of God my sister scored tix for the midnight show only (couldn't get the others thanks to the scalpers!) so I'm going to look into this!

Yup. She's lived in Dana Point and San Clemente. She'll be moving to San Diego soon.
