Guitar spray! Thinking back to the shows at Hammersmith Apollo. When Prince put on his purple symbol guitar he picked up a can of something and proceeded to spray his guitar with it. Anyone any idea what that was all about?

I remember he also done this at the second aftershow at the Emporium in London back in '95.
I think his explanation was " I can't stroke unless i got lubrication!"

It's anti-static spray - A lot of guitarists use this to avoid getting shocked.

I don't know nothing about guitars, but having seen Prince do this a number of times at the Park I asked somebody and they told me it's so his fingers slide better up and down the strings.

It's called 'finger-ease',most guitarists use it but Prince used 2 have it done 4 him.

finger-ease makes the strings feel silky soft like butter, for faster playing! When he was spraying on a lot of finger-ease at the dc someone asked "Whats that?"..Prince said "MACE!!" and sprayed it at them!

it's a spray that guitarist use 2 stop static, and makes it easier on the fingers, He did it alot at the celebration. He made a comment that he only sprayed 2 people with it because they were so funky, Larry Graham, and he was spraying the guitarist 4 rechelle(can't remember her name) while he was playing a prince sounding guitar riff at Xeno.

It is "finger ease." It makes the guitar strings and fret board more slick so that he can slide his fingers up and down the fret board.
During the first night of Xenophobia, after "Everlasting Now," Prince handed Habibi to Tekumi, while Tekumi was trying to restring the Gibson guitar, so Tekumi looks at me and goes, "Hold this!" and hands me Habibi. I wrapped two fingers around the top of the fret board right at the truss rod, and I almost dropped the guitar! It was slick! PS - Habibi is very HEAVY.

I guess Habibi is made of quite heavy wood (like most Gibson guitars), increases the sustain.
