Saw Chaka at the North Sea Jazz Festival yesterday. She was amazing, loving and funny. She opened with I feel 4 u and semi-ended with sweet thing (the real ending was ofcourse I'm every woman). I was happy, dancing and shouting (can't really call it singing) along!
Go to see this woman! | |

Saw her also at the north sea jazz. Like Darlingfloor said she was shouting not singing! For me it was one of the worst concerts I`ve ever been to, sorry to say that. Looks like she passed her prime some time ago...

Well Chaka shouts too, but that's controlled shouting (which can't be said about my vocal non-existing-talent). Anyway, I loved her. She performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2005 too. That was far worse. Now it was only charming and totally her.

Well i wouldnt call it so called shouting(my shouting means something totally different) more like a certain singing style, theres probably some sort of name for it Was she really that bad in 2005? We'll see what her whole performance is like next week! FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

Just got back from seeing Chaka at Prince's house, or the O2 as it's better known.
She was on good form, joking with the crowd, and her voice sounded great. There were a few technical glitches during the gig but, like the true pro she is, she carried on belting out the tunes. She started with "I Feel For You" and, interestingly, she also sings "it may be a spiritual thing" now. For a couple of songs, she was joined on stage by her sister, and also Beverley Knight (she gets around don't she!). I was a bit dissapointed as Chaka started to sing Sweet Thing, one of my faves, and then handed it to Beverley from the second verse to the end. Having said that, her voice was superb as always, and I still wonder why she hasn't made it bigger here or Stateside. One thing I would say to Chaka though is to sort out her setlist. She should end with a better track than she did, as it was one that few in the crowd knew. Especially when you compare it to the reaction some of the hits got. But, overall, she was superb and I left the venue with a big smile on my face. Must mention the support act, Nate James. He was actually pretty good live, and had a couple of really good tunes, even though he forgot the name of one of his band members when he was introducing them! [Edited 7/22/08 18:27pm]

Brilliant night, hope she plays again soon oh mama I wish I could resist ...

Yes I agree the end was disapointing, I'm Every Woman with Beverley Knight would have been the perfect encore. Fantastic band too including the original guitarist from Rufus. She still has an amazing voice but something didn't seem quite right - almost like she was praying to God to get her through the next song..she seemed a bit "out of it" as well and not as coherent as when she was on Jonathan Ross a while back. The fag and coffee appearing from the side of the stage was quite amusing All in all a fun night!!
