Or they are plain bastards, or this IS something that came up unexpected.

It actually sounds like that.
MCD have a very bad reputation here in Ireland. There are ongoing litigations as we speak. There have been lots of events that have been mishandled, and unfortunately people are legally not allowed to speak of them (even here). They push people around. The egos involved are enourmous.
I think if they changed the deal at the last minute, or attempted some of their usual tactics with Prince, anything could have happened. There's no way anyone in MCD would have thought he'd walk away from the gig this close, so who knows what they might have tried.
It's looking like MCD are now trying to pin the entire thing on Prince and take no responsibility for the mishandling. Stories are being leaked that the stage was in the middle of being put together. This is clearly impossible, Neil Diamonds stage is being constructed right now in Croker. But MCD have let the BBC go with this 'fact'. And clearly MCD have been lying all along. There is no way Princes team called late monday night - then where did the rumours come from early monday?? And then the story was changed to Prince sending an email or fax... what?
But nomatter what happened he should still be playing.

MCD was already informed about 3, 4 weeks ago, when Housequake informed the Prince community about being "precautious" ..... such a shame it got cancelled only now

If they knew 3 weeks ago then how come its been reported that the license was only granted a week ago?

and why didnt HQ report it as an actual fact not just a rumour?

I know.
Even the mods on housequake haven't as yet said exactly what they knew or how they knew it, and at this stage no-one is legally bound in any way.
It was always - we advise you for a reason we can't tell you, but our secret information leads us to believe.
Bullshit. You're not James fucking Bond. It's a bloody forum.

It's cry wolf(y) situation. Let the ego get the better of you time and time again, behave stupidly time and time again... who is actually going to believe you when the time comes?

Quite honestly, if mods knew FACTS they should have told facts.
And presented them as facts.
But those still have to come out. They are now talking about hypathetical situations about incomplete or haphazard contracts between MCD and Prince... how is that factual information about what went on here??

There are so many Wolfys, pretending to be something they clearly are not, it's stupid and dangerous, egotistical beyond measure and very immature.

And all Xeno keeps saying is "i told you, it's a pity... em hello, does no-one hear me... I knew... I told you... hello.. I'm not sure what I knew... but I knew it (he was asking mods what they knew - he knew nothing!)

Anyone who talks about themselves non-stop in this sad situation doesn't even deserve a reply.

Actually, I’m sorry Xeno. You are in the same situation as all of us. So sorry for being so irritated with you.

It's the whole cost of booking a hotel, flights/trains, getting the time off work, clothes, the list goes on. It's not just the ticket cost but the whole effort in making the trip, no matter where he plays.

I'll definately be far more wary if a one-off concert is planned. This has cost me a lot. £450 for tickets, £450 for hotel (three nights), £24 for parking, £500 spending money (optional I know), £60 flights. It may be a three night break for myself and my wife but if it hadn't been for the concert we'd have chosen a different date. When it's sunny.

The worst part is having no explanation. Trumped up little shit better be ill. Nothing worse than creating walls and alienating people through a lack of communication. Thought that by 50 he'd have learnt that much.

I'll not be attending any rescheduled show in Ireland- hope he never plays here again as ticket sales would be embarrassingly low for him after this letdown.

It's amazing now when you think about it how Prince and Amy managed to time it right to both appear on stage together. What next Prince and Jackson?

If he does reschedule, and thats a big if!!! he will find it hard to sell a lot of tickets due to this weeks fiasco, people will be put off spending money on tickets, flights etc incase they are stung and left out of pocket again. I believe that Prince wont do another UK/Ireland gig for a few years now.

no i jus dont think people from the uk will buy tickets, plenty from ireland would fill the point

I think i'm over the pain of the cancelation, and am ready to move on.

But, just wondering.

Will all you Dubs and the people from all over the world who got stood up go to the apparent Rescheduled Show in 09, or will you snub it.

I got two words for ya, i'm in. biggrin

No way I would ever snub a prince concert - gonna go for sure and rock da house with da main man lol

You do realise that this a 6-days-notice? IF they planned to cancel it before, why did they wait so long?
Or they are plain bastards, or this IS something that came up unexpected.

I think they're just disorganised bastards daaaaahling
