another milano review (short)

First of all, i had to say that i'm not writing this review in english, 'cause i do not know this language very well, but i write this in inglish that is a language very similar to english, but it have many wrong words in the right place, i hope you can understand all.
The prince's concert was very important for us, 'cause prince was not coming in italy from 1990, for legal issues, and this return in milan was a sign that prince has closed this legal stuff, and now he can come back often in our country. But the same day of he concert (31) the italian newspapers told us that the concert could be still cancelled, so we was not so sure to see it again.
The first thing was the pre organization of italian fans, that made a really good work to have a civil way to access the palavobis (a guy called gypo was the leader), using the supermarket number and it was funny and nice, 'cause it works and the access of the npgmc member was really sereno and tranquillo (sereno and tranquillo are inglish words for the english 'nice', but with different means).
Ok, we enter in the palavobis and we go beside the stage, the place was nice, and the distance from us to the stage was perfect for see the concert, this is the first time i understand the member's privilegi o come si chiamano dannata lingua. So, on the stage there was sheila e. and this was a nice surprise, she smiled to use, but generally she used to smile too often, se smiles everytime, she had to be a happy woman, i do not smile so often. There was candy vattelapesca, and maceo parker and another trombone player, the actual drummer, the actual bass, and renato at the keyboard: on the stage there was Prince, but he was japanese now.
No, he wasn't prince, ok, prince come on stage and made the santana meedley, a really good work, and after he talk to us a in a strange language that i do not understand (somebody tell me it was 'english'). People laughs often so i think he was saying funny things, so i laugh too. I do not understand anything, but he was very funny, i think.
After he take the bass and sheila get the drum and they begin to jam, a short jam, but nice to see prince and sheila jam together.

End of the sound check.

the concert was a normal concert, nothing different to the other review i read in amp. I think there was 2 prince on stage. The first prince was the musician played his guitar and the keyboard in the first half of the show, playing *with* the band, with many jazz stuff, and i had to say, it was really really great, i do not was believing prince could still so brilliant and 'mature' in his music before see this show, at the end of the first half i think that the other prince's concert i see (it was the celebrated lovesexy '88 tour, in the same place) was not so good for me.
The second prince was a 40 age old man that tried to make happy the people 30 age old that was listening him, singing his old hit singles, using all the tricks of a little actor: he was not only boring for me, it was sad to see a really musician, loosing time in a patetic karaoke of old songs... purple rain, pop life, and the second half of the show, was a really sad thing for me: i had to say, many people around me was happy, so not all the people are thinking right things as me.

The tracklist (in casual order, but not so casual): santana meedley, a jam with sheila and the band (soundcheck). The rainbow children, pop life, xenophobia, purple rain, the work/housequake/1+1+1=3, pass the something (a maceo parker song that i do not remember the title), strange relationship, a led zeppelin song, a nice version of sign'o' the times, strollin rolling (with another song in the middle of strolling, a cover of a really famous song that i do not understand), a funny version of gotta broken heart again (this was the really nice half of the show, except the purple rain moment); take me with u, rasperry beret, everlasting now, (break), adore, the beautiful ones, nothing compares to u, the ladder (with sermone inside), starfish and coffee, sometimes it snow in april, days of wild (funny end).

prince played really fine, and the concert was globally good. he do not played object in the mirror so i sang it in the car, backing home.

Yes the karaoke feel i had too...see my report about the rotterdam show. luckily we had the nighttown concert (aftershow)...and a very good soundcheck as well.

But i really dont see the fun for Prince in the sing along versions of Purple Rain, diamonds and pearls, etc.. this must be so boring now. But ur right many people around me too seemed to enjoy it. Oh well..at least half of the regular show was interesting.

It was a very energetic show, I didn't have that karaoke feeling, he didn't play so many hits, I think that casual fans had some trouble in recognising all the tracks. But believe me, it was nice to see all 9.000 people shaking their asses in Everlasting now and Days of wild!
cheers

It was also nice to hear the covers: "Love rollercoaster" at the show and the "Santana medley" at the soundcheck were nice.
I also spotted a bit of Duke Ellington's "Caravan" in "Days of wild". Someone claims that he also played some notes of the traditional italian song "Gelato al cioccolato" at the soundcheck. Anyone else spotted it?
cheers
Alex
