Im still surprised its not been advertised elsewhere and im surprised hed only do one night as the logistics must be nigtmarish, perhaps he will anounce other gigs after the show - mayb its tactics

Nope. I work in film industry, tax breaks gone I'm afraid. I don't think they ever applied to music industry. I think he will announce other smaller gigs after this one. Ticket sales will be better. It will get into the media etc.
But Luv4u is right it is a beautiful country to play a gig. Lots of bands say one of their favourite. Can't wait anyhow.

i think youre right, he may announce gigs after the croke one he hasnt announced a tour tho so maybe its a bit m0re off the cuff than that playing what he fancies when he fancies it. I cant wait either, even if he cancelled id love to visit anyhows so my flight etc wont be wasted.

Completely different Tax issue. International film companies were given specific tax breaks to shoot in ireland. thats why a load of american movies were shot her around 2000. Bono taking his music publishing to netherlands was different. He did it cause he is a cheap skate and wanted lower taxes to fork out! Ireland has incredibly high tax rates.

Galgenwaard is the stadium of FC Utrecht. he played here 4 times with the SOTT tour.Galgenwaard is not as big as De Kuip. (Rotterdam) Back then there were about 15.000 fans who could fit in. by now it has about doubled(?) capacity.
In 1998 he was in Utrecht as well, Prins van Oranjehal, no good for concerts. also did an aftershow in Tivoli then.

as mentalist said im surprised too that hes chosen ireland when its so close to his previous concerts you'd think hed play somewhere further south like Italy - but then fans travel from everywhere, its just that its not advertised elsewhere makes me think he just wants local fans, he must realise that every orger and quakers gonna go because of the net, he cant hide gigs!

As far as I remember (could be wrong of course) anyone whose income was derived from artistic endeavours, be they authors, painters, actors, sculptors, or musicians didn't have to pay any tax until two years ago. So I guess Bono was a bit miffed at having to pay tax at all and the Netherlands works out cheaper for him (the cheating git).

Compared to where? We've the lowest corporate tax rate in Europe, one of the lowest income tax rates, and a fairly average VAT rate.

OK, I know there's things like DIRT and VRT and other stealth taxes which all add up but I think we're still one of the lowest in Europe.
