With reasonable drinks prices in a easy location right by Angel Tube & Chapel Market, with parking outside the venue after 7pm in the heart of Angel, Islington, N1 - this is a nice pre-club session before you go on to your planned late night club or indeed a whole night out with 'good music' as it's backdrop.

A 5 hour set with a little live percussion and occasional impromtu
live guest stepping up to the Mic if in the house.

pretty much Groove Lineage Radio live and direct in front of you. A flowing freestyle session, intuitive not repetitive. Always respectful of the dancefloor and crowd.
This is a great venue right down to the wooden flooring perfect for Salsa action.
This one is FREE all night with reasonable drinks prices in a easy
location near Angel Tube & behind Chapel Market in Islington and makes
a nice pre-late-night club session or a whole night out with 'good music' as it's backdrop.
If it's outside of peak time and the tracks are in the DJs bag and they are in the groove then requests are played.

Bring a crowd and I will play the style your crowd likes (within the perimeters of Groove Lineage - IE: no hardhouse, trance or 50 cent)

& yes just to clarify - Friday just gone (April 18th) was a Prince special in which I played even more Prince than I usually do - & i did a little crate digging, yes I played some of the hits - but I also played some of his glorious 12" B Sides - which as you will know in his 80s 12" peaks - these were complete master pieces all lovingly self produced with much live takes on.

SLY & THE FAMILY STONE...

Sly & The Family Stone is Ft Artist on this weeks GROOVE LINEAGE {Soul Related} Session @ Hobgoblin N1

Sly & The Family Stone were / are one of the most influential acts in Soul, Funk & later Hip Hop (re: Breaks).
When they came out they were deeply ahead of their time. The band along with James Brown's band put down the rudiments of funk. Larry Graham was bass player in the band (& later with Prince also) was credited with the original "Funk-Bass-Slap".
Several members of Sly's actual family were in the band - notably Cynthia on Horns - who out down some of the most FLY afrofunk ever IMO.

In addition to all their wide and innovative music touching in many places from funk, soul, psychedelia the band were a multiracial band with some great lyrics and messages.

Their production sound under Sly was unique using many un-othodox techniques such as applying wah wah effects to voice, stereo panning & also some of the first uses of beatboxes (IE: Family Affair).

Some of Sly's music is SOO uplifting and timeless, even his darker lyric'd stuff is just too damn funky for it's own good.
.... with pleasure this week I feature one of my all time fave acts - inc. tracks which have been in my box since my first DJ gig - give it up for SLY & THE FAMILY STONE!!!
