Wembley Stadium was packed out a number of times, not sure how that matches up, but I expect Wembley may have been bigger?

If I remember right the old Wembley held about 90000 for a full house gig.

I was there at wembley stadium in 93, was massive but i believe a sell out a croke can beat it, wembley back then was around 77000 people, 72000 seats plus the floor

I thought there was close to 85k that day ??

I was squashed to fxxk at the front. Mayte cam out on a swing in a mask disguised as Prince to 'My name is Prince'. The atmosphere was great but the sound was dissapointing that day.

A band called D'Influence opened for him , it was dark and cloudy ( and open air) , they played Thunder over and over again( damn now it's stuck in my head again!!) suddenly a small hole broke in the clouds the sun shone through( i kid you not!!) and prince came on stage.....

i think there were 74,000 at that concert , the atmosphere was electric and like the o2 concerts has given me a memory for life

gotta go , time to dig out Diamonds and Pearls

Ahhhhh 1993,he played Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh and as it was my first home gig I was there at 8am for the gates to open at 4pm...The young and the bold, those were the days..

Can't remember if we had support act as excitement was too much and i was looking around taking in the buzz but I do recall having some hypnotic messages played over and over for about 3 hours and I'm sure I was getting enducted to some sort of NPG cult as ever time it looped u could here the groans from 40 odd thousand but hey I was right at the front with only the barrier and 15ft between me and stage...

"My name is Prince" belted out, symbol embossed curtain fell down, down swang mayte and right on2 her arse as she misjudged the gap between ground and swing, ahhhhh what a start,lol.....

Lovesexy at Wembley still ranks at the top of my gig tree but above gig was close as he was at top of his game and blitzed Scotland for around 2 hours, not even Tony "I'll never be a real rapper" dampened the day...

The old Wembley had a concert capacity (and fire regulation certificate) for 79,000. The standard seating stadium held just over 72,000.

Prince was apparently a sell out (not sure how true that was) so 79,000 is the figure to beat.

My memory is that it sold out within a day or so.
I can remember the redail button got a beating.
That was pre-on-line ticket sales (or it was for me)

I remember her comming down on the swing and saying straight away to the girl I was with. "That aint Prince" sad I could tell!

He may not play another European venue, then I may kick myself, but I'm saving my money for that. For some reason Croke Park just didn't appeal.

Wembley sold out VVV quick, but himself was at (or very near) his peak (Lovesexy tour will always be the peak for me) both artistically and in popularity. But come on "Funky Ireland" you kept saying come over here, why can't you sell out just one night?

And I think good old fashioned 21st Century Health and Safety rules will stop it being bigger than Wembley 93, we were somewhat packed in, I think I could of lifted my feet off the ground and stayed upright at the front (no gold circles back then!), But I was somewhat lighter then also smile

Yeah I find it hard to believe that it was a sellout, if I remember correctly the back of the stadium was practically empty.
Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
