I know, I'm dying to hear how these 'after-concerts' go down. I have a feeling they are going to be something really special. Hope somebody is recording.

Doves,
Mel!ssa

Maybe - as I'm going to the Rotterdam after-concert - I should not read about Paris... I want it to be a surprise smile But at the same time I'm extremely curious...

I'm just back from the main show which ran for 2h30. Rainbow children, Muse to the Pharoah, Xenophobia, Purple rain, The work, 1+1+1=3/Rollercoaster, Mellow, Strange relationship, Pass the peas, sign of the times, everlasting now,Take me with U, Rapsberry beret, pop life, beautiful ones, Condition of the heart, Stolling, delirious, Sometimes it snows in April, A line from D&P, Nothing compares 2 U, Starfish and coffee, The ladder, Dayz Of Wild/Caravan were played among others (and maybe not in that order).
Prince was extremely funny and relaxed. Maceo was there, so were Candy and Greg (no Eric though);

Rhonda and Candy were wearing a very large hat, therefore it was almost impossible to see their faces. But we saw something else from Candy since she had a very large cleavage.
The band was tigh as hell, but the only problem was that the sound was way too loud. Almost saturated. I'm deaf now.

I didn't go to the Bataclan (well I actually went in front of it). I'm not part of the npgmc, but as it was expected, non members are actually allowed. They just have to pay 105 Euros. I said no.

A lot of people expect a regular show... We'll see, it should start in one hour or two...

You're welcome!

Forgot to say that he also played When you mere mine and the other side of the pillow.

Also, 5 people were chosen to danse with him during the Work. That part was soo funny, especially when at the end he said something like : "ladies and gentlemen, N'Synch!"

By the way, for the future shows, when he asks, "do you prefer to be leader, or a follower", answer "Follower", because he'll pick someone who raised his hand for "Follower" and said "Follow me on stage".

He also said that in Antwerp (i think it was Antwerp).
It probably is his standard line for all concerts.
(sorry)

Thanks much.
Seeme to have been a great show at Le ZĂ©nith!

I hadn't any song from The Truth album at my 2 shows, unfortunately.

But what happened at LE BATACLAN
or the soundcheck before.

I guess people have to get some sleep right now...
Get sexy sex, get funky at... The ORANGE Park - Funky President, people, it's bad!

main show "standard" but very tight
soundcheck for over one hour jamming and rehearsing for Bataclan show

Bataclan show was DA BOMB
started round 02.15 and lasted almost to five!!
LOTS of jamming, some cool jazz, dolphin 2002, whole lotta love, bambi, some madhouse stuff if i'm not wrong, he played the bass 4 a long time, the work (reworked version very nice),falling (alicia keys), aaaghhh can't remember all, mainly long instumental jam sessiosn, but these guys in front of me noted it all down so accurate setlist will follow; one of the best aftershows i've been 2 actually; he started by lying down on the floor listening to his band playing smooth jazz for 5-10 minutes

BUT WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS TO GET IN!!!

ok back to reality now, took early train to get back from paris & just arrived at work, how difficult this day will be!!

The Bataclan show was amazing, the best aftershow (that was definitely not a second ONA show, despite what he had announced on the NPGMC site and in Germany) I've seen in my whole life (better than the Marquee in London which was already da bomb). His energy level was amazingly high ("you're gonna have to kick me outta here" was for real), and everybody who has ever been to a prince concert knows that in the end it matters much more than actual set lists. He actually played for about 2 hours and a half, that is longest aftershow so far in the tour.

I won't give any because I don't take notes and also because a quarter of the show was 100% pure jammin'. Basically the show was divided in two parts: a "rock part" (after starting with a jazz-flavoured instrumental jam) in which he played Bambi, whole lotta love, she's always in my hair ... + LOTS of long and amazing guitar solos ; a "funky part" that began after an hour or so, in which he really tore the roof off, playing Something in the Water, All the critics love U in Paris..., covers (Brick house, Hair...) interrupted by lines+solos on the bass he had stolen from Rhonda in the middle of a song if I remember correctly (I felt a bit embarassed for her but what a funky bass player prince is: he played the bass for about half an hour! (The craziest part was when he traded incredibly funky grooves with Renato for quite a long time: he said something like "if you wish come back to your house. We are jammin' y'all"). Once again set lists may not be particularly impressive, but the show truly was!!! He made us sing "party till the sun come up" during several minutes with him leading us on(funky!) guitar, then did the same thing on a different groove asking us "what time is it?" (it was already almost 5am ndlr!), to which the answer obviously was "time to get Ffffuuunnnkkkyyy!!!".

He did two encores. After the second one, he came back on Renato's keyboards and did crazy improvisations on this small red keyboard (one of Renato's keyboards, not the golden axe, but its sound is seemingly funky) with a techno/house groove in the back. He also improvised on come on, I don't even remember on what instrument...

These are just a few impressions from a truly memorable night. They are admittedly vague, but to me this is also what an aftershow is about, loosing all your references, letting yourself loose and leave the venue in the early morning with blurred memories but a strong feeling that you have witnessed something unique. It is this emotion, this magic, not set lists, that you will remember for ever.

After he made us pay 100 dollars I thought to myself that this confirmed what an asshole prince is. Well, even those who still belive it after this show will have to admit the evidence: what a fascinating little asshole he is. Il est sublime, je l'aime!!!

Hope you'll have the opportunity to listen to that gig.

Peace
