London again?

Just booked my flight for the Dublin gig from Sat - Tues. Now I'm freaking out that I might miss a London gig if one happens on the weekend before.
It's last summer all over again. I need help.

Spoilt is right - wasn't 21 nights enough.

What of other UK cities - Birmingham, Manchester etc??

I had to travel too you know! At least he's been to Birmingham and Manchester ans could return, chances of him coming to my home of the Isle of Wight are pretty slim! lol

Prince decided to do 21 nights at London coz that's where he'd make the most easy money, the buzz at regional cities like Manchester, Birmingham for a gig like Prince is tremendous, as these events where a major international artist plays are fairly rare compared to London, I found lots of the people around me at the O2 fairly bla'se about being at a Prince gig.

But I'm sure you get a better deal doing a block booking at the O2 (particularly as it just opened and they were desperate for a major headliner so did a good deal I bet) and not having too transport the set/crew everywhere to set up for different venues its much cheaper.

London better than Manchester?!! I'll have some of what you're smoking. London is chosen above all other cities simply because it is the capital city, most easily accesible for foreigners and because it is 'fashionable'. Manchester is far, far better for atmosphere and up for it folk without any shadow of doubt.

Doesn't matter to Prince anyways, I remember being at Man City's old ground Maine Road in 1992 for the Diamonds & Pearls gig and Prince came onstage and said "Hello London" lol eek lol

Ha ha, I remember that, although he did get it right during the Gold tour at the GMEX.

Doesn't Prince hate Manchester? (not my own personal view - I think it has been one of those most influential cities music wise)

I remember seeing the Nude tour at Maine Road and he must have played for 1 hour 20 minutes..the security told us he wasn't a happy bunny that day stomping around the covered pitch in his high heels griping...Lois Lane supported him if I remember rightly.

Yeah, the apollo gigs were cool in Manchester, I think it comes down to the O2 based in London making lots more money for him than touring cities in the UK, like what he's doing at Croke park, fit 80,000 people for 1 night, thats a big pay off, thats 4 nights at the O2 and probably the entire UK takings for the ONA tour !!!

I can't help thinking he will make a visit to London, especially if he does a few dates around Europe. Out of all of his shows I've been too though the Wembley Stadium one was ok, but at the bottom of the list for me. Stadium gigs and Prince don't really work for me...but I'd still go though!!

I won't be travelling too London or Europe for a Prince stadium gig, I'd only travel for an indoor gig, if he plays a Manchester stadium i'd go, but the stadium concerts I've been to for Prince haven't been anywhere near as good as indoor gigs.

Honestly I can't see Prince playing London again this year, not after the special treatment the capital got last year....which is a shame as I'm only a short train ride from London!!

Having said that, I would be sooooo thrilled if he did just one more night at the O2. And thinking about it, I think the interest in it would be threw the roof....the O2 gigs from last year have gone down in musical folklore now, from what I've read. So many of my friends and family are gutted that they didn't go last summer now, especially after my glowing report from the last concert and aftershow on 21st Sept which was legendary! Loads of them have said that if he comes back they will definately go.

...and the O2 is "Prince's house" after all! biggrin It would be rude not to hump all his gear and crew over to Paris and not make a stop a few miles North in London, after coming half way round the world with it.
