Milano, Dublin, Paris true and worth it??

Take a look at this http://www.ticketbande.eu...-tour.html
Apart from being true or not, is it worth it seeing prince in such a big venue after still having goosebumps from the London aftershows? I remember back in 2002 I saw the Rolling Stones in Munic at the Olympiahalle and Circus Krone and I was blown away. When I saw them again in a stadium one year later, it was a big disapointment. Any opinions ( Excuses for my english cool)

I'd have to agree. After seeing the aftershows at the Indigo2 last year an 82.000 capacity stadium isn't as appealing altho the temptation to see Prince again is hard to resist. Damn U! My sister and I have always much preferred the intimacy of a small venue, up close and personal, great vibes... aahhh sweet memories. Anyone?... biggrin

My first thoughts exactly - why did it have to be a stadium?!!!! I saw Prince at Wembley stadium in 1993, and vowed to never go to another stadium gig it was sooooo disappointing, however, I was a member of the 'Controversy' fan club at the time, and when leaving the gig, happened upon an invitation to the aftershow - after manically driving around London in the middle of the night to find the venue the show more than made up for the dissapointment earlier in the day. Although I didn't get to the aftershows at the 02, I had great seats for the main shows and agree, that although it's very tempting to just be in 'His' prescence maybe I'll try to contain myself and see if he really is going to be in Paris or Milan. Does anyone know if these too are outside venues? Having just read this, who am I kidding, if and when tickets go on sale for Dublin, I bet I won't be able to resist!!

Hi - I was also a member of Controversy! I detest stadium gigs myself but as the flights to Dublin are cheap at the moment I may have been swayed if it had been on a weekend but it's a Monday but no good for me. Apparently the other two dates are Friday 20th June at Parc Des Princes in Paris which is a stadium and has a capacity of 49,000 and Milan at the San Siro stadium which has a capacity of 85,700. Croke has an 82,500 capacity so you can imagine how big these places are. As Parc des Princes is the smallest and is on a Friday night then I may well be tempted, and throw in a weekend in Paris as well but I understand that the Paris and Milan dates haven't been properly confirmed as yet.

The lower capacity in Paris and it being a Friday makes it tempting. Ok, im in! Last tango, here I come! Now will Prince get off him bum and confirm the dates!

I'm thinking the same. Milan is also tempting as it's on a Saturday night and RyanAir fly there! Though the flights to go on Friday and come back on Sunday were £44 return. I'm holding out for Paris though and I'll drop in to see Mickey Mouse while I'm there. Probably take the little one as well. My brother (Mentalist) is also up for Paris so it'll be a family affair!

I deliberately didn't go to that show purely for the fact it was a Stadium show.

All these years on though, and Prince not getting any younger, I'm not taking the risk of him retiring and never getting another chance of a live show regardless of the venue - even though I reckon he'll be playing right up to his 60's!!!

I think I'll do Paris like Dublin, in and out overnight (ooeer missus). Maybe even ignore a hotel and party all night until the morning Eurostar.

Stamina! I like it! Even if I didn't have my little one with me I'd still want a hotel to go "home" to even if it was just overnight. Well we'll see. The more I think about it the more I think that other venues will be announced, in time. I can't see him doing just Milan, Dublin and Paris, can you?

It would seem odd if he didn't do more. I would have thought Holland, Germany and Spain would get one, maybe one Scandanavian show too.

Hi all
My initial reaction to the news was WOW i get to go again and take my little girl who is 4 and half. Now i am thinking, it is a huge venue and will my daughter like it as she was scared at the cinema the other week cos it was dark and loud she told me. But i would like to take her incase i never get the chance again. I regret not taking her to one of the london gigs.

I am now in a dilema?????/
Any suggestions please?????

Yuk, stadium gigs - went to see Genesis at Parc des Princes last year and was pretty disappointed with the place - a bit like the old Wembley Stadium, a fair walk from the metro, hardly any eating or drinking options and fairly delapidated.

On arriving at the O2 gig in September, I overheard some French people saying 'C'est super!!!' about the venue and I remember thinking how lucky London is to have a venue like the O2!

However the sound quality was better!! It doesn't get dark in June till around 10pm so lighting effects outdoors are always quite muted until the finale...!
....Have had my + today!

My daughter is 5 and I took her to one of the 02 gigs. I'd take her again to a stadium gig. Anyway, she'd kill me if I went to see Prince without her.

Hi londoner, Exactly like you, I really wished I'd taken my little boy to the O2. So I'm taking this opportunity, he's going to be just 5! Someone posted that the stadium was child friendly with good facilities, and I really want him to experience Prince and all the songs he knows, could be last chance?

We could always meet up with you, have a drink, let the kids play..... wink

Probably need to get lower stand seats though!

I have a homegirl that used to work for U2 and I asked her to give me some insight into Croke Park and she said the following:

Croke Park.... yah, one tip, be ready to pee on the groud, never enough porta-potties and the few stationary bathrooms are a waste.... i wouldn't recommend anyone do Croke Park without laminates... however, there's loads of wildlife and they're quite tame, you can see deer running around early in the morning.... awww, i wish i was going to be there though!!!

I hate stadium gigs but on the other hand, it's Prince. A real dilemma to be sure. I've found myself getting more and more interested at the thought of seeing him again and Dublin is pretty local. It's weird though, I feel like I should be more excited at the prospect. I guess I got spoiled over the summer, if he hadn't been here last year, I'd be there in a second.

The Milan news is interesting though, been looking for an excuse to head back there since 2004. If that's confirmed, I might just be unable to resist.
RIP sad

Maybe it's been updated? See AsylumUtopia's post, no.22 on 'deffo Croke Park' thread - says smoothly run operation these days, with plenty of toilets confused

^I think they announce croke park first because it's the least attractive place to go (IMO, sorry Irish people smile)

Paris and Milan and maybe other cities will be announced later on.

Either she's making fun of you or doing too many drugs. Croke Park is in the heart of the city and our deer don't graze well on concrete. Best run stadium I've ever been in. Loads of loos.

I'm guessing drugs.

I know she doesn't do drugs, so I'll have to actually talk to her to find out how long ago she was there. But she actually lived in Ireland for quite awhile.

Just kidding - she must be mixing it up with Phoenix Park, a huge park on the edge of the city where they sometimes have concerts. There you'll find wild red deer, Dublin Zoo, our President's residence and rentboys.

San Siro (Milan) capacity for concerts is always reduced to 60.000/65.000 due to security considerations.

Here's the map of the stadium.
http://www.acmilan.com/In...x?id=52423

The stage is placed in front of the red segment, so the yellow sectors are not used.
In God we trust.
