Whar I heard in Alborg, setlist and reviww After about 6 hours of sleep, I am now ready to spill out some of my feelings and thougths about last nigth. No soundcheck included as I am a non-member. But first of all, WOW - what a show. The Man ruled the house. He was funky. He was happy. "A lot of things happened to me since I was last here ('98) - I'm happier" He was funny like when he had to teach how to to clap. "Do it on 2 and 4 NOT on 1 and 3, this is not a Springsteen concert" He preached about harmony, one house, findind the truth and following it etc.
And he played a lot of music. 2 h 45 m worth of it. Here is a setlist which I'm afraid may not be in the rigth order and there is probably also a few songs/tunes I left out. Bare with me. First of all, he started alone by the piano doing - ONA - Adore - Condition of the heart - U'r gonna see me - TMBGITW (one line) On with the band and they played - TRC - Pop Life - The Work - Money don't matter 2nite - Purple Rain - 1+1+1=3/Housequake (with one very funky dancer all dressed in red - respect) - Strollin - Gotta Broken heart again - The other side of the pillow - Strange relationship (do we like the radio? "nooo") - Pass the peas - When you were mine - SOTT - Take me with U - Raspberry Beret - The everlasting now And then (i think it was then) he made us clap for 5-10 minutes - no musicians on stage) He came back sat down at the piano again - ohhh what a.. - Joy in repetition - Girls and boys - Diamonds and Pearls - HCYDCMA - The beautidul ones - Nothing compares to U - The Ladder and by the way - he then finished with - Anna Stesia Need I say more??? It was a complete joy. Nothing above - nothing beside. I am going again to night for the Copenhagen gig. I was excited yesterday - now I'm just plain happy (exstatic). Peace ***** There truly is Joy in Repetition *****

Candy was definately there as well as Eric Leeds, in fact I think it was the regular ONA setup (without Maceo). I actually think I spotted a few vacncies but the crowd was overall a bit "weird". It seemed as if many older - no offence - people dressed up as if there to hear Nana Mouskouri or something were there, but hey I didnt notice them during the show. The crowd was good in my opinion.
And by the way. Having checked the setlist with my memory once more, I am quite certain I have remembered all songs, but I am still not positive about the order - sorry ***** There truly is Joy in Repetition *****

I actually thought if everything else changed, the one thing he wouldn't change was the opening song. Then I read somewhere that he opened with Delirious in Oslo. But this:
First of all, he started alone by the piano doing
- ONA - Adore - Condition of the heart - U'r gonna see me - TMBGITW (one line) That is a completely different way to start off the show. Wow! Thanks for the setlist Martin.

Sounds like a brilliant show in Aalborg.
Yes I can confirm that he opened with Delirious in Oslo - with full theatre lights on. Then the lights went off and he started on what has seemed to be the regular opening of this tour. Funny that he opened by the piano alone. In Oslo it seemed that he didn get enough time to do this section. After the first set, the keyboard platform was moved to the centre of the stage and we all expected pretty much what he has done in other cities. Then it seemed like he realised that he had to end the show. There was obviously a curfew, and he'd been playing for two good hours allready. He kept saying to people on the side stage that "yes, I will finish off now" - and he did so, with the Ladder and Purple Rain. I'm a bit envious on those of you that got the more lengthy piano part - but heck it was brilliant anyhow!

U'r gonna see me - Yeah, I actually think so. By the way - that IS a beautiful song, isnt it? Okay, I'm gonna go bash myself in the head now. Thank you... Yes, U're Gonna C Me is an absolutely exquisite song. Had I been there, I probably would have cried!! Hurt me a little more - how beautiful did his voice sound when he sang... you're the reason I took a rope & lassoed the moon to prove that when it comes to you there's nothin' I won't do I'd stare into the sun if you'd be mine it's not so great a leap since to all others I am blind DAYUM!!!

About the setlist I will refer to the other Aalborg Posts.
But as I said before it was a B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L night. The Man was just sooo relaxed and sooo playful with the crowd as has already been explained about the clapping thing. The crow was quite strange. People were VERY nicely dressed and the atmosphere was weird. There were lots of respect in the air. People were very quiet during the quiet songs and the clapping of the songs actually reminded me of something a lot more high class than a normal concert would be. But then again we had ROYAL visit so of course the atmosphere was filled with respect. Personally I felt that the crowd was a bit dead during many of the songs but hey not all of the people going to his concerts are as mad about the man as myself; hence they might not know all the lyrics. Anyway the crowd must have pleased him in some way as he just kept on playing and playing. I did not believe my own hears when he played HCUDCMA – that was so absolutely cool. And then the Beautiful Ones and to round if off with Ana Stasia. Wow. But of course the way he also started the concert at the piano also took me by surprise. But again I would expect the concert in Copenhagen to be better (even though it is hard to imagine) simply because people over there are better at partying than people from Jutland. Anyway that is my opinion. Unfortunately I am not going tonight as I do not have a ticket. Oh yes and my father. He was with me at the concert as well. And he was actually doing quite well. He was signing Purple Rain, Nothing Compares 2 U and Raspberry Beret. The rest of the songs “no” simply because he did not know them but he was impressed with the Man’s guitar playing and control of the band. --------------------------------------------------

yes, for one of the u.s. shows (louisville, kentucky) he started off with a piano medley, then went into the regular set list, then did a second piano medley as the first encore.
the alborg show sounds like it was cool. congrats to those who went. i've said this before, i think that many years from now folks will look back to the 2002 tour as a zenith in his career. you better believe it was incredible. The setlist seems very right to me as well. And regarding the piano part I can only say that my girlfriend got goosebumps and she felt like crying while hearing it.
I simply enjoyed it I loved the way be balanced the show out with ballad sections then funky sections then more ballads and so on. I loved the playful mood he was in, forever smiling and making jokes and just having fun playing. So having said this, if you have any tickets for any shows in EU you wanna get off your hands you just let me know
