My favorites were: Po p Life, The Ballad of Dorothy parker, Sometimes it snows in April, WHole lotta love, When you where mine... to many to mention, he is GOD! It was three hours of screaming crying dancing, I just love him!

The show had mainly the 'big hall' variant of the setlist but with some impromptu (?) funk stuff and some things happening because of the fans (not fams of course).
It was special, differeint in some way. It was cool!
Gotta sleep now.

Songs I can remember:
A Case of U
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker

A lot of interaction with the crowd.
Kirk Johnson on percussion (also during the regular show)

Setlist regular show (20:40u-11:45u)

The Rainbow Childern
Muse 2 the Pharaoh
Pop Life
Xenophobia
Money don't matter
A Case of U
The Work
Extraordinary
Mellow
1+1+1=3
Roller Coaster/ with Berlin Jam (Very Funky!!!)
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Strollin
Gotta Broken Heart Again
Strange Relationship
When U Were Mine
Whole lotta love
Family Name
Take Me With U
Raspberry Beret
Everlasting Now
One Nite Alone (first few lines)
Adore
TMBGITW (just one line)
Condition of the heart
Diamonds & Pearls
The Beautiful Ones
Nothing Compares 2 U

The show lasted for about 3 hours. Prince was in a very playfull mood and was really emotional at the end of the show. I think he really liked the reaction of the audience. Everybody had a great time!!!

No aftershow just a party at Tränenpalast. Prince and the band did make an appareance.

Some additions.

At the soundcheck prince played some drums.

a girl at the soundcheck asked prince onstage if she could work as a soundegineer and made a complete fool of herself.

Some bandmembers were signing autographs.

During THE WORK 4 people were invited to dance on stage.

The B. E. R. L. I. N. jam was based on a P-funk groove withe the hornriffs of Parliaments UP FOR THE DOWNSTROKE
This lasted for 15 minutes with at least 10 people dancing onstage.

During Everlasting now the ground below the members section was so much shaking that Takumi ( prince guitar tech) had to hold the guitars to prevent them from falling.

After sometimes it snows Ronda had to change all of a sudden from Bass because prince decided to play purple rain.

( the reason there was no aftershow was because they had to leave to catch the boat at 05.30 to go to Oslo )

Overall a true ONA show which reminded me a lot of the celebration 2002.

Boy, that concert rocked! Unbelievable...Hamburg was great, this one was unbelievable.
Highlights for me: again The Ladder, Whole Lotta Love and that ultra-super-funky neverending jam that started with 1+1+1is3 and ended with whatever. Man, that rocked!

I will never forget this evening!

...and Snailey is right, the ground was shaking like crazy when people jumped up and down during The Everlasting Now, that was really funny!

And greetings to everybody we talked to! I'm the young guy with the friend with the dreads.

Hey, for everyone who speaks German: This review from Berliner Zeitung is incredible:

Link:
http://www.berlinonline.d...86325.html

Sex mit Gott

Prince & the New Power Generation feierten eine Messe im Berliner ICC (Jens Balzer)

Und was soll man sagen? Gott sei Dank! "No more war! No more fights", war die Botschaft, die Prince seinen Zuhörern gleich am Anfang des gemeinsamen Abends predigte. "Just real music. By real people."

This was really a very special concert, and I have seen over 20 from 1986 on.
Besides the fantastic mood and setlist there were also some other special moments:

During Pop Life Renato played a much longer solo than usually. Prince walked around the stage and didn't know what to do. He tried to stop Renato by saying "Thank you, thank you" but Renato didn't recognize it.

During another song (I can't remember which one) some members hold up a banner that said that a friend of them had birthday. Prince stopped the concert and told them to show the sign to everybody. He then explained that he don't celebrate birthdays an told us about the differences between birthdays and holidays/happy days.

During the soundchek a woman asked if she could work as a sound engineer at Paisley Park. She also had a present (a wrapped cake or someting like that, but Prince didn't open it). She was invited to come onto the stage and had to play on the keyboard, but Prince dind't seem to be very convinced But very amused. After the talk he joked that we had ruined his setlist for the soundcheck.

And not to forget, Eric Leeds got a very warm welcome and played really great!

when they hold up the banner it was during THE WORK.

There were 250 members which took the term HOUSEQUAKE
literally.
I've had so much fun.
Most of the people were way older than theaverage that you see at other concerts.

Also funny was to see that i think a nonmember with her friend tried to sneak in front.
But the security moved her and her friend out of it and all the members started clapping.

sorry mate, but you're the kinda guy that prince referred to as the kind fan he doesn't want (the ecreaming pushy kind) as opposed to the mature kind who just behave themselves and enjoy the music and the good time.

what the f*ck should prince want some freaky suspenders for?!! a tasteless gun holster-looking mobile holder, come on, they sell it on tv-shop all and even kids think it's ridiculous...

that girl who got onstage during the sound check was totally annoying, prince showed great personal format to let her stay up there and did her a big favour to make her go before she embarrased herself and everyone else even more.

and btw he didn't say that she messed up his set list, but that she'd messed up his SETTINGS - on the keyboard that was.

other question: the girl and u in the last row at the queue talked about zurich and a "chance" of cancallation? what is it all about? this could not be true, or? where from do you have this info?

btw. i am the one you made "high 5" at the tränepalast in the middle of the dance. stood in the soundcheck queue just in front of u.

see u in zurich!

hey man, i thank u 4 being open and let me know ur opinion withouth shooting on me, and i accept ur opinion about the mobile holster ( i guess i am too much into a flash and conviced of this gadget... also i do live (part of) on the networking like prince said himself - ah he's doing networking - check my answer 2 jalokin on this subject!

about zurich: well, i heard that myself the same evening from a german (berlin based) friend... even if i could never believe that myself! otherwhise prince would have a massive image problem in switzerland and i guess he would never have the chance 2 perform anymore (agencies, media, fans)... and come back again (or even sell some records) - so therefore i thinks its just stupid hype - and we should all 4get that quickly... sorry if i got u nervous on that! (i would almost die if he really cancelled it - cos its my next and last gig of this tour)

memories: hey, i am so sorry, but i can't see ur face right now... u said: stood in front of me in the soundcheck queue ... are u a man or a wife? have u been there with ur partner? are u the guy from austria? well, sorry, won't b arrogant (cos i am not!), but as i was on my tripp in tränenpalast i can't not even remember 2 whom i spoke and 2 whom i highfived... it may have looked silly and drugged... as i danced my ass off... but, it's like that, that's me... i 4myself enjoyed every second... (except the TRaNDY story...) and even met some wonderful boys and girls (especially one...) - and i am therefore pretty much looking 4ward in seeing u in zurich man/girl , so email me if u want 2 so we could hang out 2gether and i can show u where kaufleuten is 2 find... its up 2 u... whatever u might like... peace!

and now 2 u, jalokin, hey, i am sorry if u spoiled ur night (hope not) or somebody elses... 2 tell u the truth: i don't like it beeing shot or missinterpreted... there is no reason 2 blame me (even if it looked stupid, and u think its stupid...) - as long as u don't know the facts u better leave the negative vibe out of this... 2 make it clear: i have and can accept ur opinion about the holster thing, but i don't accept beeing stamped as a groupie! or a freak in kissing princes ass... cos i am not! i was only on a intensive highfly! and it blew me away... therefore i beg u 2 (at least try) read my longer opinion/answer on this subject right above... (as u made this open topic and maybe others felt the same - i answer here right now)

and 2 finis, i wish u another excellent experience on the 25th in ur town! and don't panic, i won't b there and ruin ur chance 2 interact with prince urself... have a good time, peace N b wild! (there is no reason 2 fight in my opinion, agree?)

what the f*ck should prince want some freaky suspenders for?!! a tasteless gun holster-looking mobile holder, come on, they sell it on tv-shop all and even kids think it's ridiculous...

jalokin, damn, u hit me... let me tell u one thing, and first clarify the facts...
a) ur an enthusiastic (regarding ur profile) - a fan, and a
npgmc member like me - so we have that in common
b) it also seems that ur into star wars flash... good 4 you, nothing 4 me... but i don't blame u 4 that (maybe i do find that ridiculous as well, but the keyword is tolerance & respect right here)
c) we have both witnessed a wonderful experience and prince himself said - harmony and respect amongst us all... so lets get that started right now... and behaive like this, okay?

so i wanted 2 let u know, don't blame me 4 that... in ur opinion (and probably lots others as well) it might b discusting and ridiculous... but this "gadget" thing hast the following background:

a) i had one on already in frankfurt when i was on stage and prince adressed on me: ah look at this silver shoes (and he watched the holder as well...with such eyes nuts u guy dance now...)
b) i do promote this things (let the market decide if these are useless, stupid , or discusting) and to tell u the truth - don't think that u can buy that somewhere (tv shops) - so if u want 2 have one 4 free - let me know b4 u bomb me anymore...
c) therefore i said 2 myself that i might bring this as a gift present 2 the next concert (which was berlin) and also enclosed a infonote and my card - with the main idea 2 include something new in npgmc's retail shop (as we could produce this belts with any note it, 4 ex. npgmc, or prince, live4love or whatever)
d) i took it with me with no fix idea ... just thought it might b cool 2 give that 2 some npg stuff member, or maybe prince himself if there is a chance...
e) as the girl (wich u blame as well... sigh , why? R u jealous or a what? ) just passed next 2 my chair/place i thought lets use this opportunity 2 "transform" it on the stage... and i have asked her if she could bring that up on stage... so... from then on i was not so comfortable cos it was not anymore in my control and 2 much in the spotlight...
f) well, u have witnessed it 4urself ... neither the girl, nor prince (nor the rest of the members) knew what it was... and in fact: i never wanted 2 become this 2 such an open topic! in this case i agree with u: better beeing peaceful and don't behaive silly (screaming, groupie behalf, etc.) - but i was also thrilled when i saw what happend... i thought he will through it in the audience.. and u know... never accept it... as he then asked, what's this? and from who it is i became very uncomfortable and i did not knew how the react ... he said something like, ah it might b a recording set... (as somebody screamed that out) and ur a bootlegger... l8 he said himself TRaNDY and on the end he even carried off the floor like something he was cool with.. and i am pretty shure he or somebody from the crew checked it - i will tell u if i will get an email/answer (which i don't expect.. but u never know...)
g) so like said b4, as prince asked what's this and from who it is - my friend pushed and forced me 2 stand up and i was out of control... 2 much things passed my head.. and i agree with u in this case: it looked maybe silly as i was trying 2 explain what it is... and bubbled something out... i was very uncomfortable with this situation... get me right: i do like the spotlight when it comes 2 dancing and funking around with other fams, but i would never adress a word on prince and if there were a chance i would aks something REALLY important and intellectual (cos i imagined/dreamed that thousand times in my life... on a virtual base in my mind) - but in this situation prince adressed on the gadget, aka me... so what to do? ...

afterwards i was a bit ashamed and thought i should have said: its better 2 give than 2 receive, or when he asked " what's this? i colud have said , check 4 urself sir... u know afterwards ur always more intelligent... i really hoped he would change the topic and therefore was not at all comfortable but on the other hand thrilled cos i could not believe what happend right now...

so, resumee: u and lots of others might find this ridicilous and u may b right.. but 2 tell u the truth: i just wanted 2 have some fun/k and was thrilled after my (personal higlight as i was lucky 2 enter the stage in frankfurt and he adressed on me saying: ah ahh, look @this guy with his silver shoes...dance now!) frankfurt experience and so it happend like it happend... u may say it is silly, childish, useless, and goofysh... but thats ur opinion.. the belt/holder is indeed very useful and not based on a provocing base.. its just a cool gadget 2 wear, basta.
so if u blame me 4 this i don't agree, if u blame me 4 behaving stupid... well, u might b right.. but i am not a groupie @ all, neither i seek the spotlight... so sorry if it looked like i was kinda exhibitionist or egocentric.. believe me; it was not... i just, u know enjoyed such intimate moments like this...

hope i made myself clear... on this... and we might see if there will b an interaction, or reaction from his management... may i ask u a few things? (sorry if i do that open topic and not private based.. but u know, u shooted on me here first..):

question 1)
what would u like 2 have as a new gear, gadget or product nex 2 new music wink in his club? (4 the members? retail section)
question 2)
what would have u done or answered the moment when prince adressed on the "sender" of this gift? (also don't 4get, i am not english native.. so i could not make myself clear properly)
question 3)
tell me the truth jalokin, are u jealous cos he interacted with crowd on this than on others and on the end he even walked with the bag off the stage? and seemed cool with it (receving a gift)
question 4)
do u hate me? how comes this? cos everbody loves me (kidding) ...
question 5)
would u like 2 have a TRaNDY 4 ur own? send u one 4 free if u want2

again: first of all it was a personal highlight seeing prince in such a great mood and on such a humain behaive...

and 2 finish: do u know what made me mad? angry? i will tell u, during the mainset, the encore, when prince was on piano and performed so intimate.. u could hear a fly fart (hä? say what?) some STUPID security guys chatted about this and that... totally loud! i could have johnwoo gunned them out... (i guess i was not the only one)... c u might b wrong with ur opinion on me... peace! dude

u're right - i am the one from austria (the men / the girl is my wife)!
i will be in zurich too - and i think we will meet at the soundcheck.
about kaufleuten: one of my friends life in zurich and we will go to the kaufleuten together - i've been there back in '98 - we talked to larry graham outside the building but unfort. we didn't manage to get in (to be true: my swiss friend went in because he knew the kaufleuten-cook that days and promissed us to bring us into kaufleuten too - but now the really sad thing about this story: he is not a really big prince fan and felt asleep during the aftershow and forgot to bring us into the building [to much alcohol smile ]
but in 2 weeks it will hopefully be no problem for us members.
i have been to an aftershow in vienna a few years ago - it was a very famous evening at the "technisches museum" - he played there for 2 hours from 4 to 6 - it was incredible. i am still looking for somebody who got a cut of this evening.

Berlin 2 Munich

Which flight were U on ? Seems as if we could have chartered our own plane ? Never noticed so many Prince followers in Munich ! wave

C U in Zurich

woot!

at 13.35 - berlin - to me some faces really looked familiar!

next stop zurich?

Thats so funny! My Girlfirend pointed to a guy in the row next 2 us during the flight. She wasnt sure if the person was at the concert also, but he had this familiar smile, that made him suspicious... So this must have been a fan too. Who was this?
Next time we do charter a flightfrom Munich ; ) So where all the fans in Munich ? i thought i was the only one...
Where do u hide all throughout the year???
