Hello!

This is my first post, so please be nice. Just want to tell you a quick note how the Oslo concert was (the songs are in that order I recall them, but not 100%, Ok:

Soundcheck (ca 50 min):

Jazzy Instrumental (with just John Blackwell + Renato)
45 min. with a dj
The ballad of Dorothy Parker (instrumental without Prince, who was sitting at the back checking things out)
The Santana medley (with full band)
With U (Instrumental)
Xenophobia with some new horn arrangement (could not figure it out, but sounded like som p-funk horn stuff, Prince also played a little bit of the synth intro to Atomic dog), very funky version!

The Concert (ca 2.20 min):

Delerious!!! (prince sayed after the song: "soundcheck"
The Rainbow children
Muse 2 the pharaoh
Money don`t matter tonight
The work
Extrordinary
Mellow
1+1+1=3/Housequake/Rollercoaster/Sex Machine
Bambi
Whole lotta love
Something in the water
Funky Oslo jam (using the chant from funky nassau, "Oslo is funky, Oslo got soul"
Sign of the times
The Question of U/The One/Fallin
Strollin/Unknown song (sounded like a jazzy muscial song or something like that)
When U were mine

Nothing compares 2 U
The Ladder
Purple Rain

Aftershow:

Nothing much happened, the dj spinned some records and Prince turned up for a minute or two, waving from the stage and dissapeared.

PEACE

Ps. It`s 6 in the morning and right now I`m going to Stockholm,

PEACE

Matt

Hey, Sahar - i think i saw you there... wink

Anyway, i'm not good with reviews - so all i'm going to say is that Prince is THE best artist live and the NPG was slammin' headbang

Here's another review from Oslopuls - Aftenposten's local edition. The concert gets 6 stars out of 6.

http://www.oslopuls.no/ci...&id=422136

The Dagsavisen, however, rates the experience to a poor 4 out of 6.

http://www.dagsavisen.no/...8981.shtml

The reporter says (as a hommage to Prince's babbling about how we'd all agree that Jehova is the only true and one god, if Prince and the audience were the only people left on earth) that if he was to take only one live band to a deserted island, he'd bring the NPG.

Cause they're great.

But the concert didn't work out perfectly to the reviewer from Dagsavisen, mainly because it resembled Mezzoforte rather than Funkadelic. Prince seem to be all too wound up in saxophone-solos, jazz-rock and jazz-funk to deliver what he (to the taste of Dagsavisen) does best: divine pop and lead-heavy funk.

To me, personally, the show and the whole evening was... beyond everything. My woman and me were third row dead center at the soundcheck and concert - I even got to deliver a line to the man: to which he actually responded! At the afterparty we managed to get a great table very close to the stage and dancefloor. We boogied the roof offa that place - Prince's dj is not bad at all.

Several newspapers complained about the discursions into jam-land: Candy, Eric, Renato and not least Prince himself. And sometimes that did get a tad tiresome. It was like: we all know you can play, let's get the Housequake on!

But the overall impression he made on us were just devastating. Sign o the times, Money don't matter, The work, Something in the water, Gotta broken heart again, The one and of course the encores were... out of this world.

He's the greatest and he showed us just that. Looking better than ever, playing better than ever and flirting more than ever. A total victory. An obvious rate 10 out of 10. Thank you!
