'The Rules' according to Prince, at the O2 Maybe this is on the wrong forum but..
Was anyone at the main concerts or aftershows at the O2 when Prince talked about 'The Rules'? I kept reading snippets on 3121.com, and other reviews, and would love to know what he said. I think one was "don't leave the toilet seat up", another was "foreplay begins in the mind". Apparently they were really funny 
I think he also told a story at one of the aftershows, saying "I used to be like all of you", and that he used to get sent to the grocery store, - he had to buy 'womanly things' for his Mum or something! Any stories greatly appreciated!
The only thing he said at the aftershow I was at on 6 Sept (after Shelby sang Love is a Losing Game) was "Amy Winehouse, take care, that stuff might have been cool in the 80's, but it sure aint cool now", and "Can I take you back to Minneapolis with me?"  [Edited 12/3/07 15:05pm] | |

When I was at Prince's concert he started to sing 'Don't make me sleeo on the couch", and he told the story of how that song came to be , he said he was watching the Basketball game and she came in wanting to talk, and he shouted 'shut up woman, don't you see I watching the game! So when bedtime came he turned off the TV to go upstairs and she threw the pillow down the steps. So he wrote that song that night.  the twins sprayed '21' with red aerosol on the back of his white suit on the 21st night..
he got the crowd going by asking if anyone needed 2 catch the train (of course they didn't!) & then announced, 'well if u don't want 2 go, neither do i - we'll b here all night...' he substituted 'u don't have 2 watch dynasty' (kiss) with u don't have 2 watch big brother... he prob said tht every night! bless [Edited 12/3/07 18:13pm] | |

there use to be a time when i could walk down the street... just like you...nobody wanted a picture of me...now everybody wants one....like i am some animal at the zoo...i use to be like you, i could go to the supermarket and my mamma asked me to pick her up some cigarette and tampons.. you know, what, what dont act like your mamma aint...you hide it in the bag tryin to get back...hopin none of your friends saw ya, please....dont stop your hands clappin (a few times? a verse of delirious) yeah i used to be just like you.... summer time in New York...walkin around just havin a good time lookin at all the girls.... all the girl's lookin at me ....tellin me to get out the way so they could see my cuter friends....oh i hanged around, i hung around with the cute dudes so i could, you know, you know the big tall one you know i would be right with them you know whatever they didnt want just 'hi do you think we could, nevermind' but those days are gone i cant even go outside no more...you think i dont miss it, yeah i miss it... then some crazy fool come up to me with a camera and he's got 6 other crazy dudes with him and he said if i could just get a picture of you and michael jackson together...if i could just i could retire, prince just let me get it.. and thats when i knew things had changed, but inside i am still the same, something else changed... inside i am still the same, something else changed (wailing dunno how else to describe it lmao)
i remember one night Shelby J was singing and he came out behind her and screamed like a fan and then produced a towel which he started to play with flicking around etc generally having fun head diving into the couch with cushins on and pretending to throw a pillow out at the crowd (cant remember which night if anyone does please post i have a feeling it could have been the 13/09 but i am probably wrong lol) also there was the night where he talked about how he made music not sold records i wish i could remember more of that passage i am sure it will come back to me eventually if i think about it but at the moment i am meant to be doing a uni essay on geomorphology
EDITED cos i remembered more 06/09 Morris's Robot dance, prince coming back playing some amazing bass then trying to tip toeing off stage with morris with his hood up, and i also remember at some point in this aftershow he ended up laying on his back on the floor cant remember when exactly or why

Yes, at the end during 3121. That was one of my highlights! 16/09 Aftershow was my favourite of the 5 I went to though (I missed 28th Aug and 9th Sept of the big ones), just because the audience was a lot more relaxed and he seemed to be too. Oh, and I think it was 13th Sept when he asked who was making pancakes in the morning | |

Yes remember it well during Satisfied/NPG Blues on September 1st, Maceo played a lot. Took my cousin as a first timer, she loved it too Shopping ain't no sport Headaches don't last for weeks, go see a doctor If you have a problem I will help you, for sympathy go see your girl friends | |

I was there!!! he walked past me twice on his way to and from the Balcony.. I was so transfixed and  for the rest of the night I cant remember any songs.....

Felt good though Yeah, I think I remember more about the way I FELT than I have lots of visual memories - WHY??!! Probably just too much excitement! I have some vivid memories of certain parts. He looked straight into my eyes at one point at the aftershow, for a few seconds - I'm sure my mouth was hanging down to the floor (not the seductive look I would have aimed for) but the rest is a bit of a blur. That's why I need to see him in Paris next year, see if I can take a bit more in | |

I was there on the 11th of August when we had the rules about how a woman should look after a man. One of them was to not moan when they leave the loo seat up but as he was talking he came so close to us I don't remember much else. I will ask my mate when I see her what else he said. | |

i cant believe it has been so long since the shows in some ways it feels like ages but i can still remember them like yesterday i hope he does do shows in Paris though i dunno how many i would get to cos i wont have anyone to go with again, and going to london by myself to see him is one thing going to a foreign country where i dont have a clue about their language is another  maybe i should ask for a french dictionary for christmas With Love there is no Death | |

Ooooh, I wonder if I smell like Prince now yeah the perfume is better if you just walk through a mist of it rather than spray it on its actually quite plesent when it isnt as strong i ment to get some inscence before the end of the last aftershow but i ended up going round the back instead and then i forgot to go back and get some i was so annoyed when i remembered With Love there is no Death | |

there use to be a time when i could walk down the street... just like you...nobody wanted a picture of me...now everybody wants one....like i am some animal at the zoo...i use to be like you, i could go to the supermarket and my mamma asked me to pick her up some cigarette and tampons.. you know, what, what dont act like your mamma aint...you hide it in the bag tryin to get back...hopin none of your friends saw ya, please....dont stop your hands clappin (a few times? a verse of delirious) yeah i used to be just like you.... summer time in New York...walkin around just havin a good time lookin at all the girls.... all the girl's lookin at me ....tellin me to get out the way so they could see my cuter friends....oh i hanged around, i hung around with the cute dudes so i could, you know, you know the big tall one you know i would be right with them you know whatever they didnt want just 'hi do you think we could, nevermind' but those days are gone i cant even go outside no more...you think i dont miss it, yeah i miss it... then some crazy fool come up to me with a camera and he's got 6 other crazy dudes with him and he said if i could just get a picture of you and michael jackson together...if i could just i could retire, prince just let me get it.. and thats when i knew things had changed, but inside i am still the same, something else changed... inside i am still the same, something else changed (wailing dunno how else to describe it lmao)
That is sad, I know people say 'he should expect it, if you want to be in public eye and do the things he does bla bla bla...' but I don't they know what its going to be like. I remember one pop star saying that 'you dream of it, people singing your lyrics its like being in another dimension, But the reality of the celeb world is not nice at all, thats why I turned to drugs' We can't judge too much either as we haven't got a clue what its like, yeah we don't feel like we should give them pity when they have so much money. Money doesn't buy happiness. Personally I would think if Prince toured much more, like most of the time. People would get used to him and if he was about all the time, but the paps would have so many opps to get a pic that in the end they'd be bored and not be there all the time.Might work... might not, but at least he'd be performing and happy doing that. I don't think Prince should hide away as his music is so important to him. I know he doesn't celebrate Christmas so I'm sending him best wishes today for a good 2008 and lots of gigs! | |
