You lucky git!!!! I was itching to be at the show last night, how was it??

Prince and Bruce are my to fave artists (discounting Madonna), and I have yet to see Bruce live. I've seen plenty of footage of both live and I think they are as good as each other when they are both on form. I think Bruce pulls in an older audience these days, which might explain why the atmosphere was as not quite as electric as a Prince gig. I've got a ticket to see Bruce next year at the Emirates stadium so I'll see for myself then.

Good to see this topic has come up, there was a thread about this some months ago, this one I think

http://prince.org/msg/12/249684

I saw Springsteen Live in Vienna (at the international stadium, holds 60,000)in 2003 and it was something I had really looked forward to, as Springsteen is renowned for being brilliant Live. However, it was not IMO as good as he is hyped to be. True he has a very tight band and he sure puts alot of energy into his shows, but i didnt come away with "he blew me away feeling".

To compare him to Prince live is extremely difficult, but that particular year I saw the rolling stones at the same venue and they were in my opinion better, and two yrs later I saw U2 there, and they rocked the place to the foundations.

I have seen some footage of his recent shows on his website, and they seem more energetic that the show I saw. I also would have thought a one off show in a venue like the O2 would have been perfect for atmosphere. However, one thing I have noted, is that his current setlist, showcases alot of material which is not so familiar.

I would be interested in hearing other peoples opinions on this.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

i have never seen bruce live but at this point i would b more open 2 seeing him live cause he showcases material that is new instead of the same ole drub that prince has been doing 4 the last 10 years now and it's getting pretty stale.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

This is a really tough one. I don't think you can give an objective answer unless you're really into both. If you don't know Springsteen's back catalogue you might not enjoy his shows that much, whereas if you don't know Prince's, it's easier to enjoy the groove. The 2 best gigs I've ever been to were by The Boss and The Purple one and I've never been able to decide which I prefered. Prince is so damn funky, playful and all round talented, Bruce pours his heart and soul into every 3 hour gig and is a genuine American poet. If it's a matter of preference, that's one thing, but to say who's better live? Damned if I know.

Tim de Lisle? (sorry too lazy to check - it's Xmas eve!) Music critic for the Mail on Sunday, says it's best show yet in the O2, but doesn't give any particular reason why, that I can see. So, I guess it's all subjective confused

should i interpret this response as saying that P fans cant see beyond their noses?, is not the whole point of this place ,where you are a MOD, for discussion?

what i am saying is, there is going to be very little objective discussion when the majority of the folks here within this forum are die hard prince fans...for more objective discussion this thread would need to be in the non-prince music forum...

tis is all.

what's up with the bitten ass and yelling BIG? sound sexually.

ah ok, opps for the outburst/rant, i can never keep up with the non music forum, and i would have thought that fans would be open minded.

the ass bitten thing had no sexual meaning or reference, but if you like it, call me 777 9311 wink or check into 3121.com razz

peace n thanx for the clarification
