"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince - "Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

...oh, I wonder where he got this idea from!!! The O2 will always be "Prince's House" from now on. As the great man said "I don't care whose been here before and I don't care who comes here after me, this is my house!!"
I'm caught in two minds about seeing Wacko. I was born in 1980, so as you can imagine he was a big musical influence on me growing up. And I love Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad. It is tempting to see him Live, but I just know that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the show for all the allegations and weirdness. I'm not going to start a debate about whether they are true or not, but my own opinions about it really puts me off going....point of principal really. www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

I agree with you there, and I also think he'd be pretty crap nowadays to be honest (just my opinion). I can't see him being able to do 3 nights let alone 30!

It's gonna happen this year, but I can't see how he can match/top his live performances in the 80's and 90's.
I hope he sticks to the old songs - that's what the fans will want to hear. Take a leaf out of Prince's book so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

It will be interesting to see how Jackson copes, judging by Prince's O2 performances, he was fairly static at his age, at least Prince can pick up a guitar or go on a keyboard, Jackson was all about his dancing/image in the live shows, I can't see him doing 2 hours of that now, I bet he'll end up with a troupe of about 30 young street dancers around him while he hides in the centre .... he'll love that !!!! At the end of the day, I can see him doing this, his albums wouldn't sell now, O2/AEG will guarantee him a fortune that he needs for playing lots of nights, if it go's well, he'll be off to Vegas straight after ... [Edited 1/9/08 12:23pm] i think his albums will sell fine even his number ones sold over 6.5million copies and that was a hits album with one new song and was released about the same time as the alligations came out (week before if i remeber correctly) he may not be particularly popular in the USA but he has a massive fan base in Europe and Asia the snide comments about him being in the middle of a group of 30 young street dancers is pathetic shame really cos your post was actually quite intresting before that point also it is well known that albums arent selling the way they used to so artists have to do live performances as well With Love there is no Death

As for albums, I agree they are not selling well anymore, Jackson's hits back catalogue has been raided and milked several times already, so he cannot pull that trick anymore, so he either go's and records a killer album like off the wall/thriller again - about as likely as Prince recording an album as successful as Purple Rain, the way artists are making the big money now is to tour/merchandise, like Prince did at the O2, but Jacksons act/show was always based on the dancing/image, the image has been shot to pieces now and he won't be able to move like he used to, similar to what we saw from Prince, so it will be interesting to see what sort of show he would put on, I for one wouldn't go as I wouldn't want to give him a penny, but thats my choice. IF this is true by what they said £30 million is on the table for him to do it.
That is a million per gig and £50 per ticket just to break even on his fee. That means they'd probably charge £100 for the cheapest ticket. I VERY much doubt he could sell out 30 gigs at prices like that. Plus i think he would probably end up cancelling half if not more of the shows due to crap ticket sales and/or illness. Jackson hasnt got the stamina and health of Prince to do all those gigs. Jackson also cant possibly due 2 or more hours on stage he'd be fucked. Thus pissing off anyone whose bought a ticket. He'd no doubt have 2 warm up acts on to pad it out a bit. I think he could well ruin whats left of his career doing this. - Lets hope so 3121

Just like seeing the Spice Girls at the o2.He was talented back in the day but (not saying the Spice Girls where ever talented, load of old dog shit) its not as if your going to listen to how funky his band might be its just about him maybe doing the moonwalk and singing his little white glove off!!! But he is fat and dosen't look cool anymore and can't sing for shit! He is not going to pull a bass out and start slapping it about or get down and funky on the keybourd he has had it and he will never get it back!!

Cool! I hope he does this.
And btw, before making judgments about someone you do not know, do the research about the allegations -- read the appropriate court documents from '05 and the leaked documents from the '93 incident. Sure, it all looks suspicious, but when one reads the documents, Michael Jackson appears like a damaged man but not a pedophile.

I VERY much doubt he could sell out 30 gigs at prices like that. I think I read recently that the Bigger Bang Rolling Stones WORLD TOUR netted them 46 Million, so I doubt very much whether Jacko could generate 30 million off one run of shows, even if it were this apparently fictitious 30-night run. I imagine there's a grain of truth - ie. Jacko IS playing the O2 - but I bet the rest is just the usual News of the World nonsense. I mean, The Jam slated that newspaper in their song of the same name way back in, what, 1978 or something? Shows how bad that rag has been for so long. This is not an exit
