So mussten die Käufer teurer Karten nach hinten rücken. "Dafür habe ich mich nun stundenlang angestellt", schimpfte einer, der für die zweite Reihe bezahlt hatte. Verständlicher Ärger: Wenn die Tickets bis zu achtzig Euro kosten, sollte auch ein Prinz das Publikum respektvoller behandeln.

Als Prince mit 45 Minuten Verspätung endlich auf die Bühne kam, machte er es den Fans wiederum nicht leicht. Zunächst standen Songs des letzten Albums "The Rainbow Children" auf dem Programm, das leider in Deutschland nur als Import zu erhalten ist. Alte Klassiker waren nicht vorgesehen: "Wer ist hier wegen ,Purple Rain' gekommen? Ihr seid auf der falschen Party!" Sprach's und spielte mit seiner formidablen Band knappe zwei Stunden eher Unbekanntes aus seinem Repertoire.

Den Jazz-Exkursionen des Meisters lauschte das Autitorium mit freundlichem Interesse. Anders als beim Frankfurter Tourneeauftakt fehlte Maceo Parker, dafür gab's ein Wiederhören mit dem alten Prince-Gefährten Eric Leeds, der die als "Special Guest" geführte Saxophonistin Candy Dulfer locker an die Wand spielte. Doch weil Prince weiß, was sich gehört, wurde im Zugabenteil mit "Raspberry Beret" und "Nothing Compares to You" endlich die Hitkiste geöffnet: Selbst "Purple Rain" scholl noch von der Bühne. Es hätte ein rundum gelungenes Konzert sein können, wären da nicht die Misstöne bei der Platzvergabe gewesen.

Eine Aftershow gab es übrigens auch: Für weitere 20 Euro Eintritt durfte man im Tränenpalast dabei zusehen, wie Prince im V.I.P.-Bereich Kartoffelchips verspeiste.

Too bad.. but hey, real fans knew about the club, so they must have expected this??

Members paid for these advantages, so they're supposed to be at the front.

The bad part of the review concentrates merely on the fact that people who bought regular (non-member) tickets, but waited for hours, were let inside only to find out there were already hundreds of people before them! That it's unfair, bla bla bla.

Understandable trouble: If tickets cost up to 80 euros, even a prince should treat the audience more respectfully.
When prince started with a 45minutes delay, he didn't make it easy for his fans again: First were the songs of his last album "the rainbow children" that was only available via import in germany. old classics were not to be played: "If you've come for Purple Rain, you're at the wrong party!" Said it and played for nearly 2 hours rather unknown songs of his repertoire.

The audience listened friendly to the maestro's jazz excursions. by the way, there was also an aftershow: for 20euros more you could watch prince at the tränenpalast [=palace of tears] in the v.i.p. area eating his potato crisps.

That's not strange. I can imagine that some people feel it a let down if thhey have to pay 80 euro to find out after hours that there is already standing someone.
