almost ashamed to be Dutch..

What are all these people complainignabout. Did they see a different show than I did? Were they in the same building? Didn't they see the crowd's reaction? Did they expect Prince to read each and everyone's individual mind an play all the songs everyone wanted?

Some people wouldn't recognize good music or a great show if it bit them in the ass.

I'm almost ashamed to be Dutch and the dutch mentality to complain even about great things.

As a big fan it's of course nicer to only hear stuff he hasn't played before, but although I personally can do without Purple Rain, I can see that it would make the concert for many others a better experience.

What I witnessed yesterday was a great show with great musicians and a setlist which both contained new music, crowd favorites and obscure old tracks: the perfect mix I think.

Hey, the Dutch are great! If they feel Prince shortchanged them, let them say what they feel!

Roger Nelson is a Hamburger Head who knocks himself out for New York, LA, and London and everybody else has to beg for his crumbs and scraps at his shitty afterparties where nothing happens except he walks through the club!

The concert was intense!
Sign of the Times rocked, so did The Beautiful Ones (did he scream or what??)

I think the 'fams' were pissed about the fact there was no performance at the Nighttown.

Everybody is not going to have the same experience with this tour. The setlists are changing nightly. Some cities are getting full soundchecks and aftershows and others are not getting that.

Some people get to dance onstage and an aftershow at their first Prince show and others have seen Prince many times and never have seen an aftershow or danced onstage. Difference experiences for everyone. Some people have their dreams come true and others leave disappointed.

I'm Dutch , I'm not ashamed, I had my glorious night and

OOOHHHWWW YES !!! He did shake my pants off.

My body hurts, my ears R still in (a nice feeling) pain and I still can cry thinking of Sometimes it Snow...

He made me the happiest guy this year.

Come on enjoy what U've seen. It was the funkiest play on earth last night.

I believe (and amen again) that we should get those young kids by the hair and show them what music lookes like. THIS WAS MY TOP3 concert ever from his Purpleness.

THANKS PRINCE, Thanks Ahoy (crowd) and thanks 2all the funky musicians who share this feeling.

yep could not agree more, we had only first ring tickets (it was sold out so quickly) and where on the side corner, looking at the side curtains, but what the hell, it was funky, everybody had a great time, except for the usual whankers!
But they always have something to nag about, it seems they are busy for the whole evening, just to find something that´s wrong or different then what they expected instead of enjoying the concert and the atmosphere

The only thing i want to complain about is the f**king black market dealers, who bought up a lot of tickets, but from what i saw they did´nt make much profit lol

To be a true fam you know what you have to give up. Is that really worth it?

Hi Dennis,

Not every dutch fan is complaining... only a few shout that loud that it makes you think that we all are.

Keep the positive vibe and enjoy November 2nd lol

Well this was a ...average gig. I know this may abe a shock to a lot of people but after seeing all 3 nights in London I was looking forward to my Dutch music exchange night in Rotterdam.

The "soundcheck" was my favourite part of the night. He started with an incredible version of Something In the Water Does Not Compute and carried on into an almost instrumental version of Thank You Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin. After letting people get into position the band continued with a different version of Muse 2 The Pharoah which included elements of Love Bizarre. Rhonda was sent packing from the stage and then it was clear why once Prince grabbed the bass and started playing 777-9311 and The Stick. I don't think I would have wanted to hang around if my boss was about to show me how the bass "should" be played! To top it off Mr Eric Leeds came on stage to jam with the band!!! I thought I was in funk heaven.

Then the main show started. So far so good with probably my favourite live version of Rainbow Children out of the 4 times I have heard it live. The goodness continued with a great version of Pop Life and Xenophobia...Unfortunatley after around 30 minutes he thought it might be a good idea to play Purple Rain. This was the end of what promissed to be a great night for me. I felt sonically raped! At least in London he had the respect not to subject us to this track again and concentrate on playing music. Ths was the same version of Purple Rain that I have heard on too many occasions to remember...I never want to hear him play it again!!!

Altough he followed this with a fantastic version of Housequake/1+1+1=3 the gig never felt quite right again all night. He even cut out Family Name which in my opinion is a travesty.

Still I don't wish to totally dwell on the negative aspects of the night...I did still have a great time and it was clear that the Dutch are a party crowd. Although the 10,000 strong crowd was no where near as loud as the 3,000 people in attendance at each of the London gigs!!!

Peace

You felt "sonically raped" by hearing Purple Rain? That's going a little far isn't it?

When Prince is playing for 10,000 people, he has to please the die hards as well as the casual fans. The casual fans want Purple Rain or some other familiar hit.
