rotterdam soundcheck/show/afterparty

There were really too much member tix for this show. About 1200. That kindof ruined the intimae soundcheck-preshow thing.

They made us wait from around 4 till 6:30 before we actually got in. Soundcheck was about 45 mins.
Started with Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) and Calhoun Square. Then an (by me) unrecognised song (w/ lyrics) that might or might not have been from Rainbow
Children.
Then he started the lick from 777-9311 for and extended jam of that song which also incorporated the 'turn around' part (instrumentally) from The Stick ( by The Time) (the part where it goes "Words come to quick, much much to quick" etc.) but not with those lyrics sung. Hope i explained this right.
This last jam also featured Eric Leeds, but he did not participate in show.
Dj Dudley D was there both for the soundcheck and the show.

The setlist for the show i think i've seen it pretty much posted in other posts. Purple Rain was long and (for me obsolete)
Days of Wild also include a quote from America (Prince played the leadline on his bass, once during the song)

The part where he says that the 80ties are over etc. was done in Dutch for the occasion byt Candy Dulfer. During the soundcheck he was having here write down what she sohuld say.

The afterparty was members only at Nighttown. Member-guests had to cough up 20 euros to get in.
I left pretty quickly since it didn't seem a performance was gonna happen there. No equipment was set up, just a Dj playing. I hope he's not playing there afterall right now, but it would highly surprise me.

Going to bed now. Signing off. won't check for spelling errors. good night. might add more later.

No equipment was set up... are u shure? well, then hm.. not... lets wait... i mean this programm is more about prince himself, so maybe he can not always ask whole the band incl. the guest musciciand such as candy and maceo 2 join him in the middle of the night.. but
what i thouhgt 2 myself and hoped 4 frankfurt:

bring ur accustic guitar with u sir, and sit on a chair in one corner and show us the truth, nothing but the "truth" - so not much logistics has 2 b arranged, less costs, but more joy! (4 me a dream), maybe he's not so fitt (like me) as it seems and he has 2 calculate his energy 4 this short, but intensive tour? might b, he's 44, not 34 anymore... so... i duno... lets' hope 4 a per4mance in this europe tour... (i know london had one already)... play zurich, kaufleuten P wink

Wow, 1200 club members. That's the biggest number of NPGMC members I've seen in these reports.

He didn't play. He was at Nighttown, as were all the bandmembers. Bu they stood around on stagebehind the dj and a lot of girls that were dancing on stage while the dj played some cuts from the live album and some maceo tunes.
Fun, but no more than that.

The article says: "toen hij in Nighttown tijdens het door zijn band vertolkte 'Raspberry Beret' het podium
opsprong voor een onderonsje met een aantal uitverkorenen."

It doesn't say that it was PERFORMED LIVE 'ON THE SPOT'.
It was a LIVE-RECORDING they (the DJ) played from the Xenophobia Live CD.
At least that's how i asume this conflicting report was conceived. As said above i left before this 'non-event' occured.
