george clinton quakes!!!!! Went to see george clinton last nite - superb fantastic funkateer!
then a guy at the end announced he was outside signing autographs and the crowd was like 'yeah right' and he was! i smiled at him when i gave him the cd to sign and he smiled back looking me right in the eye and winked and then started to draw a cartoon dog on my cd!!! I asked him if i could please run round the desk and get a photo with him,i think everyone else just asumed it was okay but i felt i should show him some respect so i asked - he nodded but i guess was all voiced out as he didnt speak, i ran round and some guys were still getting there pic done by his promo lady on their phone and ole george started looking for me, my hubbie said, shes behind you and he turned and smiled again. i then got my pic done so cool - as far as i saw i was the only one who got a doodle and signature - such an honour. The concert was so cool and such fantastic old mowtown songs and then the man himself what a powerful voice and real words, id forgotten how much ive missed the quake prince but now i realise how the revolution changed into the npg and the influence this fabulous entertainer has had on princes future music. His cd How late do u have 2bb4ur absent is fab and there is a song on there with prince, signd off as symbol so i dont know when that was recorded but its very housequakey!! Paradigm song 3 on disc 1. walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous

I'm pleased for those that were able to get autographs and photos but personally I would rather he had spent more time on stage performing.

George has never cheated us on stage time. If it was cut short it wasn't because they weren't ready to play. I've heard him say that he is always tired, except for the time he is on stage and we all know about his hoarseness. since Run & Them were saying "Here we go"

it was long enough - the guy was red when he finished and looked very tired it finished 10.30 ish so i think it was a fair length most performers only do 2 hour stints at concerts anyhow,
you guys have been spoiled with Prince only he goes the distance for all niters!!!!! George was cool and everyone loved it. i think he was a game guy to sit and do all those signature even with the tossy bloke at the back yellin 'come on george we got trains to catch' and he thought he was hysterical! a good nite out and a cool cd walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous

George only did about an hour and ten minutes. It was the shortest main set I have been to. I still enjoyed it though just wish it had been a bit longer.

I saw George in a club a couple years back, and love love loved it! I can only fantasize what his shows must have been like in their hey-day... I played 2 - 2 and half hours, then his band kept playing for the night Was one of the best concerts I've been to, excluding P. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If we crave some cosmic purpose, then let us find ourselves a worthy goal" - Carl Sagan

My Girlfriend made sure he knew it was my birthday by letting his assistant and security know beforehand, nice touch her shaking hands with everyone that made a purchase.

I really enjoyed it, it was a short set, started off a bit chaotic with the sound, but that settled down, 'Flashlight' was amazing....most of the songs turned into pretty long jams, which was cool, but meant we didn't get to hear too many tunes...which given how many great parliament/funkadelic tunes there are is a shame
I enjoyed the support too, probably wouldn't have gone to something like that of my own volition, but it was great...the guy in the salmon pink suit kind of reminded me of morris day 'don't touch me cos i'm sensitive'! Amazing to see him signing autographs too...i didn't get one, as the queue looked huge....yea, regretting that now!

Even though I enjoyed the gig whilst overall, I couldn't help but feel short changed by the short main set time, the fairly long stretches where George wasn;t singing, and the short-ish set list.I thought that they were just playing around when he started waving goodbye and the guy came out and siad that he would be outside signing autographs.
Ol' George had the crowd in the palm of his hand, and the musicians were superb (especially the lead guitarist). His voice was noticably hoarse, but he sounded just beautiful on the Curtis Mayfield cover. Jack Ashford's opening set was a good warm up too, whilst being respctful to the Funk Brothers legacy. ('Contestant 3' on 'My Girl' certainly gave it some. If you are reading this... good stuff !) It's been too long since you've had your ass kicked properly:

I really enjoyed the show, but I thought the guy was joking when he said it was over! Came on at 9 and was off by 10.10. Don't think I've ever been to a gig where there was no encore!
Still enjoyed it though... shame I missed you Cloudguitar! [Edited 11/4/07 13:16pm]

For those who have never seen Clinton before I sympathise, last nights show was a shambles, a real Clinton gig will have 20 odd people on stage and it will last for 3 - 4 hours not the measly 1 hour + we got last night. And who the hell were the band before him..Jack Ashford's Funk Brothers..he played tambourine..hardly a major contribution to Motown's classic tracks..and murdered by that cheesy singer! VERY disapointed!

I thought George was great!! It was so much fun to see the crowd just bouncing around doing whatever, having fun. I loved it! Too true though about the length of the show. I couldnt believe it was over already! I was just getting settled in for another hour or so!
