Rotterdam my experience here it is my views of the concert:
The waiting lasted 2 damn long this time, crammed in a small space and it was pretty hot there. Finally the doors open and we're allowed 2 enter, some people started running while they were told not 2! i walked slowly down the aisle 2wards the stage, prince looked up and had u stop and wait behind some fences because the storming people had "crush" written all over their faces! so there were some 40 people up front and we the other ..what 500 -700 members had 2 wait behind some fences !! There were some new fences put up around the 40 people (premium premium members??) and P started 2 play something in the water, after 2 or 3 songs we were let in again. I stopped near the first fence and settled down there. Lots of folks were climbing the fence 2 belong 2 the inner circle. prince then commented on the fact that there were only a few black people in the audience! and started counting them... he also asked who were new members 2 the club and lots of folks replied, 2 wich he answered, "so u just joined up 4 the show huh? we don't like that" these r the people who usually buy tickets and scalp them, most scalpers are big bald guys!" 2 wich some folks screamed discrimination!. I had the impression that P was in a bad mood during the soundcheck.. the soundcheck commenced and even eric Leeds made a small appearance, blowing a few notes and wandering around the stage a bit. the show started 40 mins late! I didn't like the dj he messed up and he had 2 much bass going on at a time.. Prince get rid of the DJ he ruins perfectly good songs! the show started with a supurb version of Rainbow Children, followed by a very nice version of Pop Life ( never woulda guessed he'd play this song ). then came Candy with the "we're interested in what u want 2 know bit" and Xenophobia kicked in2 full gear! it was a very solid version wich lasted some 15 mins Up next was Money don't matter 2 nite, nice (never heard that one live b4) and so the concert flew past, he made Purple Rain an emotional affair, confessing his love 4 Holland and it's fans. he mentioned the One God and that people should get their Bibles... didn't like that much.. But hey it's P u know u can expect such a thing...4 me the highlight of the show were Sign " " the Times and strolling with the new song U & Me incorporated in it. Prince looked really relaxed during the show and did his best 2 raise the roof, but after the Everlasting Now , me and arno had 2 leave cuz else we'd be stuck in R'dam (the last train went 23:15) Boohoo it was the first ever P show I had 2 leave early... After the show i realised that this was completely diff 2 the London shows, more hits lets obscure tracks, I was a bit disappointed... not that the show wasn't good, no no but it just couldn't match up against the supurb London shows I attended... i just hope that P will do an acoustic set again on Nov 2... Is Prince reading this forum? In Hamburg looks like he's back to a more "non-hits" set, but please please, do some magic tracks like "Power fantastic", "Don't play me" and "All the critics" again!!! cheers

I don't get it - what exactly is the DJ doing? Is he playing records while they perform? Is he scratching? WTF is he doing there???

Calhoun, the Dj plays some records b4 the show and attempts 2 mix and scratch a bit but it's just not any ood.
During the concert he also scratches and does some added noises during the songs... Just not a good DJ , sorry "Time is a train, makes the future the past"

What it is..?? ...moan,moan ,moan..LOL
This is a long tour, apart from maybe only David Bowie, PRINCE makes more alternations to the "set list" than any other touring Artist. If you don't want to see the Same set, stay at home..I went to London..I'm going to Paris..AND I just booked a round trip to Japan..to catch the END of the tour, WHY..?? because I love the music..love the setlist..love the show, I'm not expecting ANYTHING different in Tokyo...just anther "one nite alone " show. Stop moaning and enjoy REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS... "we told u not to come 2 the concert.! npg1991"

gazzlornie it's my right 2 moan. I am entitled 2 my opinion and if I found the concert 2 b a lesser experience 2 the ones in London ... if u don't agree that's okay. i didn't say the concert was bad, cuz it wasn't it was good but just felt kinda disappointed 2 b hearing so many hits...

Damn, even if he was any good I would be annoyed hearing scratching during an otherwise fantastic show... Well, there's always memories of London!

@ starbuck..I know what you mean, I personally have been disappointed only twice, and that was in 98..( Cafe de Paris and Brixton) but the 3 hour + hits show at the Zenith Paris in 98 was amazing..I just can't see the point in all of the moaning.., at the end of the day PRINCE is just doing his job.."Professional musician "and as a fam from 77 onwards..I'm glad he still enjoys it as much as most of us enjoy him doing it..

If the DJ is the same one he used in the clubs in London and Manchester, then I'm not surprised you thought he was bad. The guy couldn't scratch or mix if his life depended on it!
